be careful. from what youve written, maybe its that YOU want HIM to like you.
if he/his mates think you like him, maybe he is embarrassed, and is just looking at you to be like 'i could have that' just like flirting. what has he actually said to you? maybe talk w his mates
if you get on well with some of his friends try asking them. ussually helps 
Why do we get SO many threads about 'does he like me'? Surely you are (or are trying to become) a mature woman. Find out for yourself! You're the person in the situation, nobody else can tell you what he thinks. We are only getting your perspective on it anyway, which is going to be biased. Stop spending your time writing about him on a forum and be more assertive!
He's probably plotting to kill you. Only explination I can come up with.
