can a woman rape a man?

"That's right. In Johannesburg this week the hunt is on for three women who ambushed a 30-year-old man and forced him to have sex with them at gunpoint.

According to a police spokeswoman the incident occurred on Saturday night as the man was walking through the South African town of Roodepoort when three women pulled up next to him in their maroon BMW to ask for directions to the Savoy Hotel.

The man offered to get in and show them the way and was later persuaded to join them for a nightcap in the hotel bar. After a drink, the group decided to go to the Station hotel, but on the way there the women changed direction and drove toward a field near the Durban Deep Mine.

At this point one woman produced a firearm and held the man at gunpoint. The women then undressed and took turns raping him, before forcing him back into the car and dropping him off on Main Reef Road in Roodepoort.

The family of a man who was allegedly raped by three women say he is so traumatized that he won't speak a word to anyone. (Wow! They must have been good!)

"He isn't all right. We are trying to talk to him but he is not saying anything. We are just trying to sort things out," Michelle, the 30-year-old rape victim's sister-in-law, told the South African Press Association on Friday.

However, even if the women are eventually caught there is virtually no chance that they will be charged with rape since under South African law "rape" is defined as the intentional unlawful sexual intercourse with a women without her consent."

Yeh it is. Why not?

Yes they can - evidently as your example (and many before) show. In this country date rape drunks are more likely to affest men from 19-23 than anyone else but it is the risk to women that catches the media spotlight.
erm but the guy has to be hard so i would assume turned on.

You can get turned on against your will.

Also, being threatened with a gun is a pretty strong incentive...

I don't think many men could prevent themselves getting an erection if a woman was stimulating his penis with her hands, mouth or any other body part. It is a natural response to physical stimulation. I would say it is definitely possible for a woman to rape a man.

Many rape victims feel especially guilty because it can be a perfectly pleasant physical sensation that they are having, even if it is against their will.

An erection is not always caused by mental sensations, it can be caused by by simple physical contact. It would take very little for a female rapist to stimulate the man and then straddle him. She could also easily force oral sex on him or (if he was being held at gunpoint) force him to perform oral sex on her.

Male rape frequently involves higher levels of violence, weapons, and is also more likely to involve multiple assailants. Male rape victims are also more at risk of committing suicide as a result of rape.

Why do you consider that article to be "a bit of a joke"? It's an article about someone being brutally raped at gunpoint, the fact that he was male is irrelevant. Rape is rape.

I can't believe you could be so ignorant, I find it disgusting that you find the article amusing simply because of the reversal of expectations. Rape is a permanently damaging and horrific experience, no matter what the gender of the victim. Have a little more common sense before posting something like this again!

Of course they can. I'm 19, and I go clubbing with my mates every few weeks. One of my friends was actually date raped by a girl, and she forced him to back to her house to have sex with her. Before you think this sounds implausable, my mate can't hardly remember any of it because he said the drug was that strong, he barely had control over his body. Somehow he managed to perform the deed, and he's a pretty tough kid, he was pretty freaked out by it.

Under British law rape is penetration by a penis that has not been consented to, so men can be raped: but only by other men.

Women however can commit sexual assault.

I thought if a man is forced to have sex it only counts as rape if he doesn't have an erection before the woman starts to touch him. I could be and probably am wrong but if I'm not it would be pretty difficult to prove someone didn't have an erection.

Thought they changed that the other year?? Any lawyers confirm that??

This is South Africa, the women probably had HIV. Would you want to have sex with that?

Yes, lawyers confirm the change and say that they changed it to what I said so it looks like I am right.
I feel sorry for the guy for all the trauma caused as a result but to answer the original question posed, a woman on her own may not be strong enough to capitalise from such situation but three ladies with fire arms.......I think otherwise.

What I really do not understand is that why would three ladies rape a man when they could have just asked for his consent and surely in a normal situation without using any threats they could have found some guy in town who wouldn't mind giving it to three ladies? But, I guess you will never understand some people and may be it's their style which I think is horrific.

That's why you do it with a johny on! How can you just turn down such an offer if it was without any intimidation or violence posed?

A small nit-pick: If he hasn't said a word, how do they know there were three women, and the whole story about the directions and the nightcap? But that's beside the point.

Of course, anyone can assault anyone else, physically, sexually, or any other kind of assault. Even if it's not stated verbatim in laws, I'm sure women would still be prosecuted for that, even if they had to name it something else.

I think the only reason people have for not counting it as rap is that they reckon that guys would enjoy having sex, be it against his will or not.
Yep a woman can rape a man, it has been known.
