Houses / Stoke

Anyone live in/near stoke have any information on what the place is like? I'm gonna be living there next year in a house. I'm gonna be living near sainsburys. Its gonna be great to be within walking disance of a high street again. Anyone have ideas on the night life and stuff in the area?

Well you're living near me, so woo! Although I'm more likely to be working in Sainsburys than actually being at Keele by then

Yea i'm with the monkey. Bath Street tania? Area looks fairly reasonable, decent amount of shops and bars nearby and we aren't stuck right next to a pub or anything. Bus route round corner as well..

We'll all be living in stoke by the sounds of it... I'm gonna be on Frank Street. Has an off license on the corner, and the pub is only down the road... Tis all good. :p:

Yeah, I emailed him about five bedroom houses - he really didn't have any! Then finally, when we sorted out our house he emails back saying he DOES have some and whether we want to have a lookie. Phhff.

Where are you guys all looking?

We're living in one of his houses, I think he doesn't have any houses left, we got our house a while ago (3 weeks possibly, not sure) and I think he said he had one left then but ring him up anyway, might be worth a try, and he could have been talking **** anyway

Richard Emery didnt have anything...I also rang 2 more people who also had nothing. But one of them said they might be purchasing a property in a few days...and i should ring back in a few days time....so i might be able to get that.

But i havent had much luck so far.
Hey Guys,

I know that usually second years move out with friends, but do many stay in halls? Just cos' i moved out at the beginning of september with some friends from my old uni, but i found that they started to get on my nerves....lol
Just dont want the same to happen again, lol

Pete
It's pretty difficult to get accomodation on campus for second year if you were able to get accomodation on campus in your first year, but you can try.

We have a second year in our halls but only because she lived off campus in her first year so they made up for it by placing her on campus in her second year.

They'll give priority to first and third years, but you can apply as second year to stay on campus. It's a bit of a lottery, I think in previous years it was easier as a second year to get a room on campus, but because of the increased number of people coming to keele, your chances are now much smaller. But still, try! Lots of people feel that moving away from campus is a major part of the whole uni experience, but it's not for everyone. It's crucial that you move in with at least one person that you know and like or else it can be a nightmare!
I don't mind that i'll be living in stoke. i'm actually really looking forward to it. its far enough away from keele to not be in the 'bubble' yet isn't too far away...

Our house is one of Richard Emerys. i know people who are staying in his houses this year, and they all say he seems a pretty good landlord. The house we have is nice in all aspects, though the kitchen isn't as nice as I'd like... but hey, its still better then the one i've got now in halls... its perfectly adequate.

Student housing usually aorund the Shelton/Stoke area and If I be honest, it's a tip, but it's cheap and you get what you pay for. Stoke isn't the cleanest place on earth, infact it's filthy but I supose if you after something OK and cheap then I'd go to live in Shelton/Hanley/Stoke area, there is also a bus route around there, the number 29 which takes you straight to the University campus. If anyone wants any information on keele/Surrounding area, just ask! I Live in Staffordshire.
We're in Shelton, next to that big park with the lake - everything in our house is relatively new, it was done up the year before.

It might not be as close as we all wanted to be to uni but we wanted a decent house.

Is there a direct bus route from Shelton to the University?

Or do you have a car?
