Hi

Does anyone know much about this firm? I have an interview for a vac scheme and was just wondering if anyone has been through the interview process with them!

Mine was a nice friendly chat with two guys. No stand out questions that I can recall now (was a year ago) but they did ask me a scenario q. I was a solicitor and my friend had found a great old house in the country and wanted me to leave my job and go do it up with them. Would I do it, if so what would i need to do - accountants/b&b regulations etc etc.

Many thanks, its for an easter vac scheme (I have one for summer), so I guess its not the end of the world if I don't get it, but will do my best!

All I know is that they have "kindly sponsored" Formal Hall at St John's College, Cambridge during the Sixth Form Law Conference this year.

I haven't. Applied in November. A couple of my friends got rejected last Friday, but I just received another confirmation e-mail.

This should probably be moved by a mod into the Legal Careers section. Or you should just create a new thread in there. Old threads never get as much interest as new ones.

I applied right at the end of November and got a confirmation that they'd received it, then got another e-mail right at the beginning of January saying they were reviewing my application. Since then nothing.

Been invited to do an online verbal reasoning test today. I hate this sort of thing if I'm honest...anyone know whether there is any numerical reasoning involved? I only looked at the site quickly but it made reference to using a calculator which confused me.

yeah i know what you mean, i just read my introduction adn it said you can use a calculator???? hmmm, they call it a verbal test but then say calculator, it may just be an automatic message though in which case they should have corrected it - attention to detail! hehe
never heard of psl though, heard of shl (failed their test with cc) anybody know anything more about it? thanks very much

Verbal reasoning test was fairly standard. Couldn't see why you'd need a calculator that's for sure. Unfortunately the test website seems to have messed up for me and not accepted the fact that I've completed the test which is extremely annoying. Waiting till monday to see whether they have actually got my test score even though it's seemingly not registered the fact that I've done it.

omg that happened to me too!! i just did the test this afternoon, it keeps relaoding the test saying to do it again! its soo weird, it says i havent done it, i did...
im worried now :frown:

When I first submitted my application, the website kept on crashing each time I tried to submit it and it looked as if it had tried to lose everything that I'd written. Fortunately, I'd written everything in MSWord first, and it turned out that it had submitted fine the first time. Still, it's a bit disconcerting.

Have either of you contacted Weils about the problems with the test?

yeah but no reply (saturday), the worst part is i have 3 days to do the test, got the invite on fri so have till sun night to do it, and the even worse part is...ive 'done' it twice already, the first time i think was good but the second wasnt, now im scared if i do it again i'll do crapper than before...stupid online tests, i hate them

Well, you've e-mailed them now. So I doubt that they'll hold you to the deadline. If the system isn't working properly (which seems likely if neither of you could do it properly) then you'd think that they'd be understanding.

I'm glad to hear that it's not just me having the problem; hopefully they will actually have my score as I felt it went not too badly (I usually hate these things; was surprised when I got past the CC online test).
