I would really like to lose some weight before the summer. I've changed pill and I've put on about half a stone since christmas (on top of my extra Christmas weight )
I've seen all of the work out DVD's, but due to a very old injury in my knee, I have trouble keeping up with them before my knee clunks and is very painful
I've tried just walking (I can't run for very long due to said knee ) but it doesn't seem to be getting me anywhere.
Anyone got any suggestions for how I could at least start working out? Please don't suggest a gym, I can't afford them!
Swimming would be good with your knee. Is that a possibility?
As shameful as this is, I can't swim I have thought of going to water aerobics classes thinking that would be easier on my knee, but the thought of being surrounded by grannies in swimming cossies does not appeal!

Aww, don't be ashamed, I know a lot of people who can't swim. It's never too late to learn though.. I still think something in water would be good as it won't stress your knee. Maybe they have different water aerobics (or the like) classes that won't be crowded by grannies?

Well, I'm off to see my dr. next week about my knee, and I've a feeling he's going to recommend water too, so I'll start looking into it

em you could try a gym, I mean try weights in the gym, like only upper body if your knee is bugging you. But one of the main things is a clean healthy diet which would aid your fat loss......Dont drop your calories too drastically and do not starve......What do you eat during your typical day and at what times?
You could just change pill again; you just need to find the right one for you.
I've had this one before, and I had the same problem, but only to start with. I think it's just cause I changed it after christmas when I'd already put on extra weight which has made it more noticeable to me.
I tend to eat little and often. I never have a huge appetite, and can barely finish a full meal even if I haven't eaten all day. My diet's not great, but I've got a diet sheet from the dr's.
I want to lose weight for the summer to shock a few people They've only ever known me as a size 14 and II'd just love to be able to get down to a 10 or 12
I'm not carrying that much fat, it's just all in the wrong places! I'm quite a big build (medium broad shoulders and, as my mother calls them "childbearing hips" i.e. they're naturally quite wide) but not all that tall (5,5).
I know i don't get nearly enough exercise but I'm trying
Start doing some ab crunches and toning exercises because you'll need to do these as well as cardio. Aqua aerobics would be really good but you should tell the person in charge of the class you can't swim just to be safe You could try a low impact aerobics class, they offer them at lots of local sports centres and they are usually good about telling people if the class will suit them/making sure any past injuries wont be flared up by participating in the class.
