For a town of our size we don't do too bad. The Union normally has some sort of even on (Reload on Wednesday's is ace!), and you have somethin g like 63 pubs to choose from in town. There's a small number of clubs in town, Pier Pressure is most popular, but IMO compared to the union the clubs in town are crap!

Loads of pubs, and with the new licencing laws, some are open quite late (the castle's open till 3/4 some nights). The Union's good for nights out, I prefer it to places like Pier and The Bay in town (working at the Union has nothing to do with it, it was like that before I started working there).

sounds great! i wasnt sure if it was going to be quiet... ive never been to Aber and from rumour you expect it to be like that! but it sounds like theres more of a nightlife than where i live!

It's just a shame they closed the PJM bar last year as if it was still open it would be my local next year (I'm in PJM next year )

Reply 5

There' talk about reopening it. Dunno if/when it'd happen tho.

Aha...aber nite life! Well...there's Pier Pressure (night club on the pier) which is a bit naff except on a thursday when loads of students go for pound party (all drinks a pound), Yokos is ok but 2 b fair if u dont like camp, cheesy music it aint the place for you! There are loads of pubs, The Cambrian is kewl an it has the most amazin selection of pint cocktails! Then there's The Academy, Varsity, Bar E, Lord Beechings, Spoons, Harleys... so many cant name them all. The Union in aber is pretty decent. They have film night monday, comedy/karaoke on tuesday, reload on wed (constant cheesy tunes, v popular), Pound Party on thurs, Flirt on fri (same as reload but wif modern stuff), saturday its a themed night where loads of people dress up and sunday there's quizzes/open mic etc. Its really good and the prices are pretty decent!

And Flirt is now a pound party too, although whether it is Flirt next year or not remains to be seen. It changes every year, in my first year it was Wired, then Move with Vegas (Bar FTSE type prices) and now Flirt.

Well after finishing my first year at Aber, definately agree that the union is the best place to be. You're bound to bump into loads of people you know, and if in your first year you live in halls on campus - its only a stroll away. When I first came, the first semester I mostly spent it in The Pier, but I'm so glad I went to the union more - its so much better.

I totally agree. Pier is dire and is more expensive than the Union, even on a Thursday when it competes with the Union pound party. £5 entry compared with £2? in the Union. And nothing at all compares to Reload :p:

Bring on next year! :p:
