No I didnt. I did originaly wanted it done there as thats where I got the last one but they had a really long waiting list and it was a birthday gift from someone so couldnt wait ages.

I got it at that little place down st benadicts, called, custom tattoo art, or designs, or something to that effect. I thought they did quite a good job, and was cheaper than indigo.
you went to Ash, yay! he did my last tattoo and thats where i'll be going for all ink from now on.. my experience there was far far better than my experience at indigo.. ended up just talking for half an hour about vegan tattoo inks and Pitchshifter, then i walked out without paying him! i did go back to pay :p: I go to Gem at indigo for piercings though

I love your new tattoo Mousickle.

*waits impatiently for June, to get new ink herself*

I know it's better to go to a great tattoist that you need to book months in advance, but the waiting sucks :/
Yeah but just think 2 months isnt really all that long a time considering it will be there fro pretty much ever!

haha nice.. Thats one band that keep cropping into my life its weird... absolutely loved them when i was 15/16, ended up seeing them more than any other band, i work alongside an ex-member, and keep randomly meeting people who also love them. bizarre! the last show at Rock City was a night out to remember though.. i was completely wasted and jumping around like a lunatic. good times.

I want a tattoo of humming birds, lots of little small ones flying down my arm. i know nothing about tattoos or where to get them or how much they cost though but they have to look like ones that you'd find in an old style encyclopaedia

You get tattoos at a tattoo parlour usually, and the better quality artists are expensive (but worth it). Try bmezine.com, it has a really helpful FAQ section

Nice idea for a tattoo btw - I seem to be saying that to everyone, but it's true!

Well I know you get them at parlours :P I just need to do some research into a place nearby with a fairly competent artist, really would hate to end up with a ****ty tattoo like I have seen on others!

I will read the bmezine faq/ask around on some other forums. Are most tattoo artists able to copy a picture perfectly?

That sounds like an amazing idea!

Id say.. get some images you like of humming birds, and some pictures from an old encyclopedia... ask around your area to seek out a reputable tattoo artist and put your idea to them. They'll be able to draw up what they could do and give you a quote!

EDIT: I see you're in London... one of the most respected artists in the UK used to work at Frith Street tattoo parlour.. he's moved on, but i know they're a quality studio!

artists can copy the basics.. any artist should be able to do the outlines and block colour perfectly, the level of skill comes with controlling the thickness and sharpness or the lines and shading techniques.. a more complex, detailed 'realistic' looking tattoo will require a higher level of skill than just the outline or something.

A lot of artists specialism in old-school kind of tattoos which isn't what you want, so I'd find someone who has a lot of realistic work in their portfolio. Sure, most artists can make a decent copy of an image but you should find someone awesome Pretty much every tattoo studio will have a portfolio online, so a good start is just googling studios in London and looking through their tattoos. If you find a few people you like, go in and book a consultation to discuss the design if you want to make any adjustments/want them to draw it up (usually at this point you'd put down a deposit for the tattoo and book an appointment).
