I just ran over a pigeon in my car. *shock* And NO it was not intentional but i could not avoid it.

My friend told me that i had 'decreased the surplus population' and that i probably killed the bird with the first case of bird flu in the UK.

Actually pigeons aren't migratory so the only way they'd pick up bird flu is from another bird that was already in Britain. Also bird flu seems to infect mostly poultry.

I find this thread very upsetting. Pigeons are fabulous creatures.

Two years ago I rescued a dying baby pigeon from outside an ice rink and raised it until it could be independent. He used to sit on my chest and watch tv with me. He flew away eventually to be with a pigeon family but I think about him a lot. Aaaah, I miss that lad.
