Braces

I've had my brace now for 2 years a few weeks ago.

I had 2 teeth taken out, one on the left around my cheek and one on the right in the same area as they both stuck out weirdly.

Since then my brace has straightened all of my teeth, but there is a bit of a gap left where the two were taken out, and my front two teeth now have quite a big gap as they have both been pulled each way :hmmm:

I really do think that they look worse now....do you think my orthadontist will be putting the front two back together before he takes it off? :frown:

They look worse because of the big gap in the front two......I look like a rabbit.... I duno how to describe it :frown:

Why don't you describe it as Madonna-like, I seem to remember shes got a gap in between her front 2 teeth

Talk to your orthodontist?

If you're not happy with things, speak to your orthodontist - I'm sure they know what they're doing.

I imagine they'll close the gaps near the end of the treatment, once everything is all neatly aligned.

When they tighten the braces they should close as time goes on

Yep, similar to above, you're orthodontist should close all the gaps up.

Don't worry.

Depending on the size of the gap, you may have to have rubber bands across the "hooks" at the top of the brackets to pull the teeth together.

Coincidentally I just had mine taken off today after about three years

Anyway, I had exactly your problem- I had a few teeth taken out and this left various gaps in my mouth. My orthodontist told me I was nearing the end of my treatment, so I grabbed the opportunity to ask him about the gaps. He told me that closing the gaps between teeth is the final thing they do, after all of the main work is done.

At my last appointment before today they fitted a much thicker wire, which closed up all of the gaps.

Don't worry about it- they tend to focus on it at the end, and you can always talk to your orthodontist if you have any queries with the treatment.

Good luck! I'm sure it will look great at the end.

dont worry...in time it'll all come together and you'll have nice straight teeth.

i still have a slight gap on the right side at the top when i had one of the teeth from the middle removed to make room. nothing major though and its not noticeable or annoying.

you might be left with small gaps between the teeth but im sure the orthodontist can close any gaps in the front teeth. no need for gaps there
