 why did you leave your thumb burning long enough to blister, silly billy goat.

It's a light second degree burn. Keep it undressed, do not burst the blister, keep it dry and don't knock it: I had one of these v similar in jan but got the blister bust and it got infected nasty :frown:. Good luck :hugs:

Keep it in cold water. I had one burn that really hurt when out of cold water, but was fine in it! I had to keep it in the water for several hours, but it was probably the best thing for it.

You can't risk bursting the blister though it would get much worse believe me :frown: It will sting more if burst; air gets to second layer of skin.

Maybe but some savlon/germaline on it? This may be totally wrong, But I once burned my hands (My brothers idea of a practical joke.. Get her to stick her hands in boiling hot water.. Haa.) and cover them in germaline.. It really did work.

That would perhaps be for a burst or infected burn I guess; mine got burst and infected at outward bound leading to red lines halfway up my arm and a weekend of worry I had contracted tetanus as i had allegedly had only 4 of 5 injections, did achly have already 5 but doctors made a mistake . If it does burst for whyever, keep it totally dry (out the bath), and then do dress it I guess (can't be sure about that bit). Lol I've repeated myself so much sorry about this.
What I normally do with blistered skin from metal and ceramic burns is get a needle and make a series of holes in the blister and push the goop out and that way it isn't bulbous, or risk getting infected (as much as if you cut the blister off)

If you do do that then make sure the needle is sterile! But I don't recommend it, as it contains magic "healing juice"

Nah, not really, I'm just one of those people that no matter what they do just keeps on going!! I'm like the energizer bunny, just not as fluffy :p:

And of course I'd use a sterile needle, I'm talking like hypo needles or scalpol tips.

I recommend getting out all the gross stuff too, but if you just use like a safety pin that has been in a naked flame then it should be sterile and fine to do.

Thats a great way of getting rid of blood blisters under finger nails - heat up the needle till it's red hot then push it through the nail and into the blister and stand back!!

In future you want to run it under running water for atleast 20 minutes...as soon as you burn it...wont do much good now though .

you're way off the mark.

advice for burns is keep under running cold water for at least 5 mins to prevent any further cell death from heat shock.

And, just like the blisters on your feet, you CAN burst them. advice is that if the blister is small then leave it be - your body will reabsorb the fluid inside. if the blister is larger or you simply want to burst it then you can. get a needle, heat it in a flame for at least 10 secs - this won't make it burn you again, it will simply sterilise it, then prick the blister. try to then keep it clean and dry for the next few days. eventually when the skin underneath regenerates, the top layer will dry off and start to fall off (After 1-2 weeks). you can then pull it off like a scab.

hahaha
if you contracted tetanus you'd have knwon about it rather quickly.

It's there to tell you not to touch hot objects again. Think of it as a learning experience.
