Should I worry about cholesterol??

Er, I have a feeling I may need to get my cholesterol checked out sometime!!
Breakfast: 4 rashers of bacon and 3 slices of fried bread
Lunch: 2 hot dog lattices and 2 slices of fried bread with ketchup
Dinner: 1/2 pound rump steak with cheese, bacon and fried egg
Snacks throughout the day: 4 saussage rolls, 3 rashers of bacon, 3 saussages, 5 hard boiled eggs
Drinks: 4 cans of Stella, 2 litres of water and 1/2 litre of tonic water
Everything has LOTS of salt on it too

Would cholesterol be a serious concern for me with this sort of diet? I am not exaggerating anything here, it isn't that unusual a day for me, though on some days I don't eat much at all cos I just don't have the opportunity. I've often joked about cholesterol problems, but I was wondering if it might be a real issue.

I'd certainly be worried if I had a diet like that, but then I do worry about this sort of thing more than most people would methinks. I don't think I would eat that amount of bacon, sausage and egg (egg is high in cholesterol I think) in a month. That said, I might eat a load of other things that are equally unhealthy.
If you are concerned go and ask someone who actually knows about these things, i.e. a doctor. I think i'm right in saying that some people can get away with eating lots of fatty foods more than others can. Blood tests can be done to see what sort of cholesterol level you have.

Why care? theres much more other things in the world thats likely to kill you, and that sort of food has been the staple of the old for years and years, and theres enough of them kicking around old folks homes and creating queues in post offices to prove it cant be all that bad. tho best not every day lol

1 - I HATE seeing doctors
2 - I hate blood tests even more - it's MY blood, and it only comes out when I have a stack!

What else should I worry about then?

Thats a pretty shocking daily intake.. Generally your right that its high in cholesterol, and fat.. and a high salt level. Maybe its worth thinking about cutting down a bit and try and reduce your cholesterol level. If your really worried then you may have to just bite the bullet and go to the doctor (Although I did read somewhere that boots are going to start to sell kits to measure your cholesterol.. you just get a bit of blood on a strip or something  There all the rage home DIY kits right now.. so maybe tht may be a viable option to avoid the doctors? http://society.guardian.co.uk/health/story/0,,1700356,00.html Heres an article About home testin kits..)

Well, if that's all your diets consists of then I would worry about vitamin deficiencies and what not, possible feelings of lethargy from a lack of complex carbohydrates (and some much needed vitamins).
Hating seeing doctors is not a good enough reason not to go to one. If you're genuinely worried then it is more suitable to confide in a doctor than the people browsing an student internet-forum at one in the morning. Honestly, the best of finding out if your cholesterol level is too high is by getting it tested.

many things. just get it done to put your mind at rest.
imo, no, dont be worried about the cholesterol. Theres far too much opposition to the traditional idea, backed up by actual science. This is all tied in with saturated fat too. I cant repeat in a post everything ive read about it, so ill give a few links for anyone who is interested, theres plenty more out there too:

I do think your diet is very **** though.

One problem I have is that I am pretty much carnivorous. And please no BS about people can either be vegitarian (slight or fully) or omnivores, but everything I eat has to have a lot of meat involved.

I take some vitamin tablets, and vitamin drinks, but otherwise I just eat burgers, hot dogs, eggs, pasta, fish etc...

Personally I'm not worried, but friends keep nagging me telling me to change my diet and will forcably take the salt cellar away from me :frown: and even cancel my order of steak and chips :bawling:

of course it would be. why bother getting tested - its going to show either normal or high cholesterol, which is exactly what you expect with a diet like yours.
mmmmmmmm bacon....sorry im rather pissed haha

You should worry. Even though you're probably still young, this thing can build up overtime if you're not careful.

And you eat a lot of meat and fried food. Try diversifying your diet and making it more balanced.
You should get it checked! Even very skinny people can have high cholestrol!

but its completely unnecessary.
its not like you are going to start treatment if it is high. you'd just change a diet you already know is awful.

Yes, you must. That is a dangerous diet, and not one that any doctor would recommend you eat. Get it check now, and change your diet immediately.
