Do not, under any circumstances, wear it with jeans of the same colour.

No lol. I wore it with grey trousers today and a lavender tailored type shirt with a black scarf
chavvy no, dated yes.

they're good denim jackets but you shouldn't overdo it and wear some more denim...that's denim overkilll...not a good look

dated? What do you mena??
I spent 30 quid on it...I really want to know. Plus I'm at Cambridge...not exactly chav-ville.

I don't think they're dated, as long as they're worn right. Just make sure that you don't wear it with denim trousers/skirt as Juno said.

I have one but I barely wear it. When I do wear it, I put it with a cute skirt to make the whole outfit more casual.

IMO I looked far less chav today than all the girls who come to lectures in trackie bottoms with 'cute' stencilled on their arse.

A bit out of fashion.

Hmm. But why bother dressing up for lectures?

I don't think M&S is particularly fashionable; the only thing I buy from there is food.

I'd also say Cambridge is quite chavvy (although obviously not the posh students  ).

If you like it, wear it, but not with jeans (it looks stupid) and if you're worried about looking chavvy, don't wear it with thick gold chains  I'm sure it looks lovely and your friend is a bit fashion-clueless.

No actually, my friend does know her stuff that's why I was worried. And I'm a Cambridge student.
out of fashion i would say
but what clothes are classed as chavvy?
its how ppl wear the clothes not what the clothes look like
I have a purple Levis jacket from the early 70s which I stole from my Dad.. it's pretty cool to me and I don't really care if it's not in fashion or whatever.
I don't think denim jackets are chavvy - I don't think there's anything wrong with denim in any form unless, like it's been said, you wear jeans and jacket - too much. Also if it's icky and says 'D&G' all over it. THEN it's chavvy

I've never actually seen a 'chav' wearing a denim jacket.
Not chav, more bon jovi.
Its not chavvy at all! Even if it was, it would only look chavvy on a chav who wore bright blue eyeshadow, thick mascara and gold chains.

In a nutshell, on a classy Cambridge student like yourself, no
