What is the relationship between confidence limits and anomalies?

Let's say that some data lie outside the 95% confidence limit: what is the significance of this? Are they anomalies, or just that you can be 95% certain that they are anomalies?

Thanks in advance

Hi.
I think that with 95% confidence values, anything that lies outside of these are classed as abnormal results.

So, for example, a persons height is 4ft and a 'normal' height is 6ft. You would take the values +/-20% of 6ft and if the persons height lies outside these values then they are of an abnormal height with respect to the 95% confidence values. So if 4ft was >20% below 6ft then their height would be considered abnormal.

I think thats right. . . . if anyone else knows different then post!

The values lies within the 95% of confidence interval i.e. values lying 95% around mean are said to be normal in otherwords which can be accepted.
