Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) ?

Hey all,

For about 2 years I've had problems with my digestion. Like, even when I eat small things and chew it all properly, I bloat really bad. Sometimes I bloat just after having a small glass of water. It's not very nice and really uncomfortable. I also don't go to the loo very regularly and when I do, it's sometimes black looking and ''tarry''. I get churning pains too in my gut. I think these are some of the symptoms of IBS and Mum's been saying she'll take me to see the Doctor soon. I don't want to waste his time though, so can anyone offer some advice and maybe what they think it could be?

Many thankies in advance. Katie [x]

If your problem is serious, you won't be wasting the doctor's time. Anyway, he's getting paid enough on the NHS, and more if he's private, to see you. If you feel you need to go, go. That's why we have an NHS,.

You can go to the doctors but to be honest its a waste of time there really is very little that they can do other than diagnose you with it. It sucks. Perhaps try to regulate your diet, if you do have it then it seems that you might have it pretty damn bad.

 I guess I'll just go to the Doc's...best thing to do.
If your stools are tarry, you really should go to the doctors to get it checked out.
It could be an allergy to something like wheat or gluten or dairy...

Again, best to get it checked out
I've got sort of the same problems as you but have had them for most of my life - There are some yoga exercises you can do so that you go to the loo more often though. Google them

It is worth going to the doctor, as it might be a food allergy, or even if it is IBS there are things they can prescribe that might help! Also, it helps to have an official diagnosis for if it causes problems during exams or whatever.

Go to the doctor. There are tablets they can give you to help. I have IBS and get medicated for it. It works well and my symptoms are less severe now.
there are quite a few herbal treatments out there too, which you can use to reduce bloating and others to keep you regular, i think you should go to the doctor but in the mean time go to a health food store and see if they can advise you? hope it gets better soon!
