PGCE = International Degree? Watch

    Hi there,

    My girlfriend is applying for a PGCE through the open university. She is originally from Brazil but has an Italian passport due to her fathers ancestry.

    Having applied from Naric for confirmation of equivalent UK qualifications it came back as Bachelor Degree Standard. Apparently this is due to Naric not being able to directly compare the course against the same here. She also has a Brazilian Masters degree but is still awaiting on the certificate to arrive from her University.

    As there is no recognition of the class of Degree (1st, 2:1, 2:2) I understand that when she applies to the OU it will be discretionary on their part as to what classification they determine for her.

    I was wondering if anyone has similar experience to this and if anyone is aware of anything that can be done to strengthen the application and add weight to the actual qualifications. Our fear is that because Naric are unable to provide a direct comparison to the UK equivalent and that the OU rely on Narics opinion it places the application at a disadvantage.

    Any comments or suggestions would be most appreciated.

    Cheers

    James
