Pityriasis Rosea

Hello, I have just been diagnosed with Pityriasis Rosea, a rash that develops normally after a virus, affecting the torso. It doesn't itch but it is unsightly. So my question is has anyone ever had this? Because I've found different sources which say anything between a couple of weeks to several months for it to clear up. I'd like to know how long it will last. Thankyou.

Yes I've had it... my GP told me not to worry about it and suggested calamine lotion for the itching (which started a few days after the rash appeared/spread). I took a few days off school and had a proper rest which seemed to speed up recovery... I'd been working really hard on my A Level coursework and had barely slept in three days so it seemed like good advice. It took about 10 days to clear. So yeah, just take it easy, eat well and get lots of sleep... oh and don't worry!

Yep I had it too. Mine didn't itch at all though. Unfortunately, it also lasted over two months, and spread up to my neck...
How long it lasts can vary hugely. I knew somebody else who had it and it only lasted two weeks. Don't worry though, it'll go eventually!

That sounds just like something I had after I had a fluey type illness, although when I went to see the doctor she was pretty useless and didn't even tell me it had a name! Anyway, I took a couple of anti - histamines and it cleared up pretty quickly within a couple of days i think, and I could see a difference just within a few hours of taking the anti histamines.

Don't you just hate it that as it goes away, it takes your tan with it? I had white spots all over :frown:
