Think I have anything to worry about guys? :s-smilie:

To be honest, I think that posting a picture of yourself on a message board to see if you have downs is a tad worrying  j/k

Seriously though, that's a cute kitty toy on the TV  I have a stuffed toy bulldog beside me on my desk

Back on the subject though, they sound like they are just being mean. Or maybe the guy really thought you could tell by looking at someone, and was genuinely ignorant? who knows.

*Jaded
Not in the slightest. Don't listen to what those idiots say, it was someone being cruel and ignorant.
OK, if people think you have DS, then they are either bullying idiots, or completely stupid! You have an incredibly pretty face

I really wouldn't worry about it at all, and whoever said it to you was trying to get a reaction, which he/she obviously did as you're getting worried about it.

Don't let it bother you, simply show them that they are the pathetic idiots who still think its OK to bully someone when they are at university. They obviously havn't grown up yet
Eurgh so much ignorance

Er, no, seeing as Downs is a mental handicap some people are born with as a result of a genetic irregularity.

There are plenty of people with 'big puffy eyes' and a 'massive forehead' in the world, doesn't mean they have Downs Syndrome. I'm not entire sure about this, so feel free to correct me, but isn't DS when you are either missing, or have too many chromosomes? You'd have been diagnosed with this before now, if you have it, which you almost certainly don't

too many chromosomes normally. you should have 46, and instead have 47 (3 number 21s instead of two).
some downs kids have a normal number, but have an extra chunk of 21 stuck on another chromosome.

in any case the answer is that the OP was basically just called a mongloid, which if i remember the days of school before 'PC', was a big ass insult.
If you had down's you would most probably not be at university, many cannot read/write. The person was probably just ignorant, as are you apparently of anything to do with Down's syndrome.

The person that said that was harsh. avoid sitting near them in the future. if you had downs it would def have been picked up by now. you cant catch a genetic disease, you are born with it. people with downs tend to have a mental age of around 7, it may be slightly higher, it may be slightly lower. but the person that said that is a ****, they were just trying to wind you up, ignore them. if they are bullying you, then report it, dont let them get away with it.

I was in a lecture today and someone said they think I may have downsyndrome (he listed a load of symptoms :frown: )???

Is this kinda thing contageous?! Cause I thought it was something u were born with! Kinda worried :|

help please!

You DON'T have Downs Syndrome.

My sister has it so I know a bit about it. Downs Syndrome children are born with an extra chromosome, therefore it's genetic and not something you catch. Most Downs people have very marked learning difficulties and your thread is far too articulate to suggest you have any problems, you certainly wouldn't be going to lectures. So do stop worrying and ignore the person who made the feeble attempt to offend you.
You're doctor would have been able to tell if you had it, and you would know, there are lots of other sypmtoms you know, flattened back of the head etc, seriously, a doctor would have told you, and you would have had special lessons etc etc.

Thats just stupid, whoever said it obviously knows nothing about it as downs syndrome is a genetic mutation and you either have or you dont. It is caused by the addition of a chromosome If I remember my higher biology right!
