What have you eaten of late? Are you on antibiotics or any other treatment?

Hmmm, I'm trying to think of red things I've eaten...I dont think there are any. Maybe a big thingy of strawberry smoothie, but thats it. And I'm not on any medication, though I do have a cold! (Would beetroot actually cause this?! lol)
Sometimes sports players can pass blood in the urnine. It can happen if you've sumhow bruised a kidney (lower back). If this is the case then it's nothing to worry about, but if it carries on try calling NHS direct or something, see what they say

it could be cistitus?
does it hurt?

Are you taking vitamin supplements? What kind of red colour is it? If it continues I would go to your GP, or if you are worried now call NHS direct. Always better to be safe than sorry.

Yeah. An overdose of beetroot causes a lot of anthocyanin to be released in the urine, making it appear red. I suggest going to the doctors, because if it is blood, but there's no cut, it could indicate internal bleeding/kidney damage...

(Not to scare you!) :p:

No... Bright red...I will do, if its still doing it tomorrow. I never have anything wrong with me, this is actually mildly exciting.

Yeah I'm female, I dont think its cystitis-thats an STD right? And Theres no pain anywhere.

Hmmm. I'm a medical mystery.

Maybe phone up NHS direct i doubt anyone here can really give an exact answer, NHS direct will be able to tell you what you can do.

No cystitis is an inflammation of your 'water works'...

That's probably the most likely medical reason...

But take what most of us say with a pinch of salt - speak to someone medically qualified...

In the interim, if you develop 'loin pain' - i.e kinda to the side [between the lower rib and hip joint] and towards the back, then call NHS direct

errrr no. firstly it isn't a disease, it's an infection. secondly its sole cause isn't sex. it can be from not weeing enough, not drinking enough, and various other things, and then often, the pokeage of the bladder doesnt help matters.

i had cistitus and my friend decided to shout across the common room that i had an STI. really didn't help as it's a LIE and also because i was in so much pain i could barely stand up...

oh and, your body doesn't wee blood for the fun of it. get it checked out

Off topic, but I find your avatar amusing and arousing simultaneously...
beetroot definately causes bright red/pink urine in atleast some people. It doesnt take an unreasonable amount either, just what one might normally eat of it
