What was your worst interview answer?

Mine was more a case of not thinking of what I'd say beforehand (envisioning possible questions, etc.) so I utterly failed to be cohesive, although I'm not sure if they picked up on it. This was for an internship at an NGO's admin office in Nicaragua.

Interviewer - What would you contribute to our organization?

Derpdedu - Organized, motivated, highly capable, blablabla...oh, and I've spent a lot of time in different parts of the world so I adapt to different cultures and peoples with relative ease.

Interviewer - What are you looking to get out of your job?

Derpdedu - Experience, help people, blablabla and then of course there's the fact that, having always been sent to private schools, I feel like I've grown up in a sheltered bubble, around the same type of people, and I want to broaden my horizons.

Interviewer - I see

Interviewers mind - The dumb **** just reversed over his own foot and he hasn't realised it yet.

God no! Luckily i'm quite good at interviews so took his advice with a pinch of salt!

Lol the realisation of what you said must have been embarrassing!

Well, it got me the job .

was any of that true?

I'll save you the time. The answer's no.

Why should you never say that? It's very important in my job to be a social person (taking clients out for drinks, meetings, etc). And I'm an accountant!

To be fair, this is what I got told from my Job Centre advisor, who's contradicted a few things others have said, so maybe "never" was a bad thing to say. Apparently, for many jobs, if you say "socialising", the interviewer will take it as "likes to go out drinking a lot" or something similar.

at an RSAMD audition

man auditioning me: 'So, tell us how a trombone works'

me: :lolwut: had absolutely no idea what to say and just froze up. annoying thing is, I know how a trombone works fine.

absolute worst audition/interview ever. Prepared the complete wrong piece, fluffed pretty much every question.

so no surprise when they didn't let me in then.

I had an audition there.

Well I say audition, it was more like 'lets put candidates as far out there comfort zone as possible'
The one when I realised that I didn't really want to work in a tiny box of a room with 3 other people for company and nobody else.

First interview (yesterday) :
Was literately going perfect until she asked "what would you like to ask me?"
My answer:
"How much do I get paid?" kinda saved myself with "and what are the working hours like?"

it was an absolutely horrible audition. I'd considered that if I didn't get into a music college I'd wait another year and apply again. When I got home from that audition I started my UCAS haha.

The guy who auditioned me I already knew (and was fully aware he didn't like me) and I think he was trying to trip me up as much as possible, whenever I said something he didn't agree with or think was right he'd sigh or tut, which I thought was really rude, especially when he did it during the 'What do you think are the strongest points of your playing?' question.

He tutted and sighed through my whole answer and then after that he was like 'Who told you you're good at that? Who are you better than?' which is a total :lolwut: situation. That audition completely destroyed my self esteem and I think it probably ruined my chances at the other places I auditioned because it completely convinced me that I was terrible. especially annoying considering I paid about £40 for the privilege of having that audition!

Interviewer: So you must have a lot of questions?
Me: Yes lots! ehm......
*5 second silence that felt like an hour as I couldn't think of a question*
Me: What does the job involve?

How I got offered the job I will never know.
McDonalds asked me 'Why do you want to work at McDonalds?' and I replied 'because I need a job'.

To be fair, it was my first ever job interview. And he still bothered to go through the rest of the questions before telling me no because of my first answer.

Getting rejected from maccy ds after interview is something for my CV anyway..

Interviewer: Why did you leave your last role?
Stupid me: Because I struggled to balance my coursework/revision with work
Interviewer: So considering you're about to start university and it will get harder, how do you propose to cope with working and studying now?
Stupid me: ummm...
Needless to say, I did not get the job!
'so why did you leave your last job?'
me: 'because it was difficult juggling education with a part time job'

And then I that realised **** i just told her i'm in the middle of a degree...
