Well, I'm going to take the apparently unpopular stance here. I do pills occasionally.
My view is, perhaps, a little jaded due to surroundings and past experiences. A lot of people find E to be a shocking and dangerous drug, but to me it's comparatively insignificant.
A lot of kids from my school are into horrid things (Meth, ketamine, etc), and most of them I find STUPID.
But.. I find drinking stupid. I mean, I'm a social drinker. But I don't really like alcohol. I don't like the taste or effects. Does anyone really enjoy drinking to the purpose of becoming inebriated? I hate feeling drunk, I just feel useless, and I'm far too agreeable a drunk. Bad things result!
The biggest thing separating drink and drugs like pot and E is, for most people, law. Then morals. I personally wouldn't avoid something solely because it's illegal, and I don't have outstanding moral standards. I'm just not as good a person as many others. I see nothing wrong with pot when compared with alcohol. I smoke it sometimes but I've never bought it because, again, I don't enjoy the high.
I do E on occasion because I DO enjoy the high. I feel that I am able to decide which drugs I enjoy and which I don't or are not worth the risk.
Most negative things I've read regarding E use on the internet is just overreaction from those who have never experienced it themselves. I look at it logically, weigh risks, and have only ever felt that I have gained from the experience. The only thing that might make me more comfortable drinking than taking E is that it's legal to drink (or will be when I turn 19).
Please also note... there will almost never be enough of any potent or dangerous substance in a pill to harm you, let alone kill you. Your biggest risk is wasting your time and money on a pill that has no effect.
I truly believe that everyone should make their OWN decisions based on actual information and, hopefully, experience within reason. There's a lot of crap information and rumours out there. If you don't want to smoke a spliff or take a pill because you honestly wish to respect the law, your religion doesn't tolerate it, or you have problems with the ethics, that should be respected. Similarly, if someone weighs the risks in all seriousness and still uses moderately, I do not see a problem. However, this is a fine line for many.
It's best to make an attempt to be well-educated before you make a decision either way.
Apologies for the long-winded post, it's a baaaad habit.
