Doesn't sound posh to me. But I don't know what twitchel OR ginnel mean.
Reply 2
Lol, I didn't know what a ginnel was when they said it either! Its just like an alley way, or passage way type thing.
Reply 3
no its not really in a higher register or "posh"

just tell them the meaning of the word "synonym"
not posh at all. never heard twitchel or ginnel before. but think its what we call an alley, or 10 years ago a jettey

not posh at all!

A quilt is different though isn't it? It's quilted, whereas a duvet can just be a thick blanket, so to speak.
Reply 7
Though I never use the word quilt. But then again I never have reason to.
Reply 8
A quilt and a duvet is the same thing in my opinion.
The only way to tell if a girl is truly posh is if she offers her hoop on the first date. If yes, then she's posh.

Her hoop?

Im from hong kong, but i've been to a bording school in the past 5 years. I know what they mean when people describe someone who is posh - nice cars big houses etc. But in my boarding school, there are loads of kids whose parents are really wealthy but the kids aren't that 'posh'. So does 'posh' refer to a lifestyle, like playing cricket in summer, rugby in september and instead of saying dinner, they say supper? or is it someone who's just rich ie. is that chav who won the lottery a few times considered as 'posh'?

An upper middle class person, so your first description fits the bill.

I didn't mean any offense Gio  Just made me laugh that Victoria Beckham came up!

I wouldn't consider my family 'wealthy', we certainly aren't poor and we don't go without, but we are just normal! Perhaps its because my housemates are more Northern than me, and consider me a bit of a posh Southerner, even though i'm Midlands

my boyfriend pronounces 'duvet', 'juvey' ... for some reason.

i think he is retarded.

that is my input.
Reply 18
I say supper, not dinner. That's just normal.
Reply 19
I call it breakfast, lunch, and tea. Thats just normal
