My guess is that he feels that way since he's an international student, and LSE probably has the better international reputation, so perhaps would be more useful for him.

That's about it. The international reputation is of course brought about by an entire myriad of factors like world-class research, etc.

okay okay but back to the important bit. why do you say that ucl has the fit chicks and cooler people? first hand experience? the law soc's fresher's fortnite looks pretty swell
Meh, pretty women exist everywhere. You're in London! You could just stay in an inter-collegiate hall if you're really that paranoid.
yeah man i'm gunning for international or canterbury, although ucl's frances gardner is really spiffy

anyway knog no question man. lse wins hands down for econs, at the very least in terms of rep. and the facilities are swisher, unless you prefer rustic. lse's library - the bleps - is quite the bomb i must say

which unit you in? gotta bring you back down to earth heh

Because I'm at UCL, hence I know. I have friends at LSE, and even they admit that their women are generally dire in comparison. Yeah, Law has a very good Freshers' Fortnight, in which you're very well catered for and get booklets of drinks coupons, so you can get off your face for bugger all money - it's a lot of fun, as my friends will testify (and so will I, I went along to an event or two last year with them), and I was surrounded by lawyers on my corridor. LSE is full of quite nerdy people, and perhaps that could be because a lot of them are international students and their parents are shelling out a small fortune to send them to a good University abroad, so they feel that they must do well and hence are (generally speaking from my experience) people who study all the time. Also, if you want some proof that UCL really is a cool place, then Vogue voted us as the 'hippest university in the country', which is saying something.

Talking from experience from all the time that you've spent in the academic fortresses of London? Didn't think so.

I'd say that was debatable, I would not say that LSE was any better than UCL, or perhaps ever Warwick for Economics - in fact, according to the last set of government research and teaching assessments, UCL scored 5* for research and a perfect 24/24 for teaching, which was higher than even the LSE. But still, for that subject, they are both excellent.

sweet. thats something i hear quite often actually

anyway don't take this the wrong way, but from my experience so far brit girls tend towards the more portly, and they are pretty antisocial when it comes to foreigners (or is it just chinese?) approaching them out of the blue (aka picking them up). i had more fun, and success, socialising with the aussie and american ladies flitting around london.

In Singapore, it *DOES* win without competition. And that's what he's talking about.

Before you start nitpicking, I'm not saying that UCL's programme is bad. Reputation is not necessarily directly proportional to quality.

Heck, take a look at Georgetown university in the U.S. It's amazing (if not THE very best) for international/foreign relations, but a very small handful have even heard about it. Of course, it's known within the relevant and all-so-important academic and employer circles.

I've only been to London once, but if there's anything I've learnt from living in a metropolitan city, it's that you can make the effort to discover what you seek to find. It might not be right next door, but it's round the block.

Ok, I can't say that this is relevant to the thread or that it matters too much, but... If we're going for stereotypes (you seem to be)- are you sure you really find English girls more "portly" than all these American girls you 'flit around' with?

And as to not being able to "pick an English girl up out of the blue", perhaps that's bc we tend to have self-respect and don't just go for any random guy that comes our way.

Sorry for ignoring your suggestion "don't take this the wrong way." I guess British girls also tend to be defensive...

Continuing the irrelevancy (sorry!), as an asian girl, I can vouch for the fact that the situation that monsieur ben indicates is somewhat true for us girls as well - English guys tend to be more standoffish than those coming from outside the country. Don't get me wrong  I'm a born and bred Brit at heart, but it can often be the case that English guys are less open to getting close to asian girls (amongst girls of other races? I can't speak for them).

Maybe I've only met the snobbish and picky part of the british male population? Who knows...

Onto the topic - UCL is an excellent university for law, you lucky OP you. I would say on par with LSE and slightly above KCL, but all 3 will give you an esteemed degree. After all - if you get a 1st at KCL and a 2:2 at UCL, I'm pretty sure that the 1st would stand you in better stead for the future, regardless of which university you achieved it at! (Well, broadly speaking anyway)
