2000 Ford Ka 2 Collection 1.3, parents bought it from my aunt so I don't know the exact price, I think it was worth in the region of £2500 (excellent condition - well it was before I got it anyway!!)

Mine's a 5-door, 1.4 Corsa GLS, paid £300 for it.
Lesson learnt. Two days of driving and back to the garage it goes :p: Some things are too good to be true. Judging by the time it took the guy to sell it to us, it'll be back there for about a month!
Like giving a kid a lolly pop, letting him have one lick, then taking it away

It's the 2 litre that's 136 bhp as far as I know, the 1.8 is only 115. The 1.8 is just over 10 seconds to 60, the 2.0 about 9 seconds.

Funny that you quote 136 bhp which "happens" to be the 2.0 spec ...lol. You're still at school, who does the insurance on such a modified car then?

Got my '92 Range rover for £2200 off ebay. Fantastic condition with all the extras and the best model year (no cat. convertor or air suspension). Love it to bits - will sit happily on the motorway at 80 all day and can beast about offroad!

You bought a car off ebay

You have guts.
I bet is can do 10mpg all day as well

Can someone work out my mpg rate at the moment - £40 worth of fuel to 135 miles. That would be great.
I want to see if it can beat Sync's; then i'll know i'm in trouble

Edit: http://www.eforecourt.com/calc_mpg.htm

 13.95mpg OMFG - I'm being legally raped

Oh God, that's even worse than mine! I get 18 mpg tops and if I push it to go fast/go offroad, that can drop to about 10 mpg. Normally i'll get about 15 mpg average though. Really have to get an LPG conversion I think!

Buying a car off ebay isn't as bad as people make out - you can take it for a test drive and have a good look over it, just as you can when buying from Autotrader. I'd happily buy another car off ebay and will probably sell mine on there when the time comes. Good deals to be had if you know what to look for and are prepared to wait.

They'd cost a bomb to run and insure though. I was going to get a Mercedes 500 SEC for £2000....until I worked out insurance and fuel costs!

So you were insured on your dad's car through sixth form...so are a lot of people, not quite the same as you were implying previously, nevermind.
