The Student Room Group

The Cobra Group - anyone worked with this lot?

I am currently out of work and...

I was offered a job with a marketing company that is part of "The Cobra Group".

It looked pretty soul destroying, 10 hours + a day selling utilities (Npower) direct to the public on a door to door basis, basic salary for the first two weeks (but payed over four weeks if that makes any sense) and then commission only.

I need something to do for a few months and although it looks not too good some people (a minority perhaps?) seem to make a very good living from it.

Has anyone had any experience with this company or one of its subsigeries?

And can I really be arsed to work from 10am till 8:30pm? (they are really big on "motivational" meetings).

They seem to work under seperate local entities, with all being under the cobra arm.

I tried it out for a day and you'd really need to have the gift of the gab to be successful. Seems to be very popular with the studenty types looking to pay off their debts.

The problem is you pay all of your expenses and there is no basic salary. Whilst some people seem to make a good living out of it I feel somewhat skeptical.

Check out the links below, I only wish I had come accross them a long time ago! (DSMAX is the Cobra Groups sister company but is run exactly the same!)

I did an observation day with a Cobra affiliated company and it all looked just as described in its U.S. sister company - thanks goodness I decided to walk away after day one!
