Feeling terrible

Earlier, I was over in a friend's room, working. I had a break from work, and sat down at his desk. i turned the screen on, and saw an unread msn window. Without thinking I clicked on it to bring the window up. I didnt read it. He saw what I was doing, and said 'Do you mind!?'. At first I didnt know what he meant so i said, 'what?'. 'Reading my msn messages!' he replied. I said then - 'oh, i'm so sorry!' and closed it. My other friend was there, and they had been discussing maths while i had a break, so they went back to it and I went back to work. The evening continued as if nothing had happened.

But I feel awful! I would do that on my boyfriend's computer, and probably have done it on other friends' computers, and they have had no problem with it. But I realise its a really rude thing to do and I feel terrible. Absolutely appalled with myself.

I think i'll write a note to apologise, and put it in his pigeonhole. i want him to realise that i know it was wrong and i feel really bad. I just hope it doesnt hurt our friendship, cos we are quite close.

Anyway, sorry for the long post. Just needed to write it down.

Thanks.

Any opinions? Do you think writing a note is the best thng to do?

Writing a note would be nice, but don't beat yourself up about it. I would probably have done the same thing, as would a lot of other people. You really didn't do anything to feel awful about

I think Markus is drunk again.

Don't worry Amy, I'm sure everything will be fine...no-one could ever not like you m'dear
I think a note might be a little OTT. Just say sorry again tomorrow at a suitable moment, explain you weren't really thinking and that you didn't read anything. I am sure it'll be fine!

i probably will, but i thought a note would be a good way to start it off and let him know how sorry i am.

he is a guy with strong opinions and and a need for privacy in some matters. i really shouldn't have done it.
Is it terribly wrong for me to say... if only the worries in my life were limited to having accidently clicking upon an MSN conversation window?

aww thanks *hugs*

maybe a note is too much, but knowing him, it feels appropriate. i've sent him notes before. The last one was to say thank you for being such a good freind and he still has it pinned in his noticeboard!

hmm, its not the act itself but the implications. it wasnt entirely accidental, although i wasnt really thinking, and i just hioe it wont affect our friendship

I think a note seems a good idea, a little personal too so that they know you were generally sorry about it.

An instinctive reaction then. You forgot yourself for a moment. Perfectly understandable.

Dont beat yourself up over it. Yeah its slightly rude, but then again your bf could have been, or pretended to have been cool with it. It isnt a big deal, honestly.
