the pill

i was just wondering if anyone could tell me something about the pill. i have only just started it and have been on marvelon for 21 days and stopped taking it on wednesday but my period hasn't started yet i just wondered how long it takes to start and should i be worried that it hasn;t?

Hello! I'm on the pill although a slightly different one to you. My 21 days is Wednesday to Wednesday too and sometimes I don't come on until late Saturday/early Sunday. I wouldn't worry too much as your body will take a good 3 months to settle into a routine. carry on as directed, even if you're still on on wednesday take pills as normal. Your body will settle down soon enough, don't worry.

well, my gf takes the pill. The beginning is always really hard due to the side effects being a real nuissance. However, after about 3 months, she says that she got really used to the occasional nausea and cramps. I think it's also normal that the one week that you do not take the pill, you get cramps the first two days.

Say I finish my pack on the thursday- it normally takes till around the monday for me to start bleeding. It is however long your body takes to register that you're on your break cos your not taking any pill.

You can go to your GP, also family health clinics & believe, probably other places too. Just say you would like to try a method of contraception as the pill might not be for you. Your GP will then advice you as to which form is best. If you decide you want the pill, they will then tell you how to take it- I got a leaflet from my GP telling me everything. & yes, if it is for contraceptive reasons, the pill is free.

its free for whatever reason you use it for, even if its not for contraceptive purposes...

Don't worry that you haven't come on yet, your body can take a while to adjust to the effect of the pill, so may take a little time. But remeber, if it doesn't come at all, then go to your GP (or whoever prescribes it to you).

I'd advise checking out this very useful thread for contraceptive information
