Gave up alcohol for Lent!

I have given up alcohol for Lent as a bit pf a challenge and it has been a real eye opener so far.

Tonight I went out with friends who were drinking booze and I was just drinking coke all night. You really get a sense of what alcohol does to someone if you are the only one not drinking - the people boozing just seem to go off into their own world after an hour or so and it starts to get really dull. Conversation goes out the window and generally it seems that everyone takes offence at everything more, become more paranoid and generally slightly more aggressive. This may sound really obvious but it has only really just become apparent now I've given up booze for a bit.

Unfortunatley it probably won't stop me starting again once Lent is finshed:rolleyes:

A challenge to give up alcohol? If it's such a challenge perhaps you might have a problem with it. I've had no issues not drinking, it sometimes makes going out to clubs a bit boring; but maybe that's just because it opens my eyes and i'm really not having a good time.

The girl on the floor below me has given up me for lent!

Its great! Now she never comes up to my room to 'chat' every damn night.. no more bugging me on msn when i dont respond instantly.. and at dinner i can really wind her up by saying anything at her and she cant respond.

I guess it would depend on how much alcohol the people drank, but when I've been out and not drank I've not really been able to tell that well how drunk the other people were...I even couldn't tell that one girl who had drunk 7 pints had had more than a single pint or two....but maybe that says more about the normal state of my friends than the effect alcohol has on people.

But from a different point of view the times I've been out and only had lemonade I must admit I've still ended up feeling quite tipsy by the end of the night myself. There was no way I'd drunk any alcohol myself, but I felt as though I had. Whether it was just the atmosphere or what I don't know, but I didn't feel 100% sober after being in a pub environment for a few hours.

In which case I have problems with:

Masturbation.
Alcohol.
Sex.
The internet.
TV.
Laughing.
Winding people up.
My bed.
Dancing like no one's watching

Good luck. I wouldn't be able to do it myself.
