OMG your so strong for not speaking or seeing him for so long! you may feel disappointed in yourself if you contact him after so long, and that youve let yourself down.
If you send him a card, he may think that your trying to get back into contact with him, because you ignored him over christmas and valentines, and now all of a sudden, you feel it ok to contact him,.. if you get what i mean ?!

Look, it depends on the relationship. Some people hate their ex's, thus wouldn't send them a birthday card. Some get on well with their ex's, thus might send them one. It's all relative.
