yes of course! you might have chipped far enough into your tooth to reach the cavity and nerve endings which is probably why you're getting cold sensations and stuff. this happend to my cousin and his tooth ended up dying, like going all brown and stuff. go dentist ASAP.

I thought that, but it's not chipped that badly. Hardly anything has come off..but I duno..

I would go to the dentist and just get it checked out. Once I chipped my tooth and didn't realise until I went to the dentist and repairing the tooth was more difficult for them as it had been a while..must not have been a bad chip either as I didn't even know!!

As a fellow musician i feel your pain in not being able to play sax very well! When i broke my finger i could not play my guitar for like weeks! Really gay.

Anyways, if it still hurts in a couple of days time, see a dentist.

Yeah a similar thing happened 2 me a few years ago. smashed my front 2 teeth doing karate. lol. wasn't funny at the time tho. went 2 dentist. she said did u find the other part of your tooth? said no. swallowed it. she put some stuff on it, and told me 2 use a sensitive toothpaste. maybe u could try some. some of them work. some not. but yeah go see dentist.

I'd go to the dentist just to be sure

I chipped my front tooth on a china plate (I don't know how it happend, lol) so I now have a pointed tooth.... I don't think my dentist has really noticed...

I chipped my crown opening a bottle on new years eve, my dentist said he would change it as close to when i dont get free treatment as possible lol.

I chipped mine pretty badly ages ago. Anyway, it's almost completely false (forget the technical term) now - but it's a bastard, it's no where near as strong as a normal tooth. I chipped it again opening a bloody bottle of water with one of those sport caps. Fecking useless.

It is only a little bit that has come off....effect of being far too drunk last night! but it hurts when I play sax, and I keep getting a cold sensation.

Should I go to the dentist?

It sound like you've probably chipped off the enamel down to the dentine - that's why it's a bit sensitive. If you'd done anymore damage you'd probably be in a LOT more pain. It's definately worth going to the dentist - they'll either put a coating of flouride gel on to reduce the sensitivity and recommend you use a toothpaste for sensitive teeth if it's very minor, or if you've broken off a bit more will built up the tooth again with tooth coloured filling material.
