Losing weight at healthy weight

Hiya guys!
I know there are a hundred threads on this but i really need some help on this! Atm im a BMI of 22, which is normal and i weigh 125 (8 stone 13lbs)and im 5'3.5, it all looks good on the stats side but like most people i jiggle :p: and im naturally really curvy, but id like to lose a couple of pounds and tone up for my hols (july 1st-8th france boat trip) and im finding it really difficult. I dont want to go overboard as ive been there done that and ended up with an eating disorder, so id just like to be a bit healthier and happier. Im a pescatarian so i only eat veggies, chicken and fish! (im not keen on red meat thats why) Any help would be really great as id love to wear a bikini again as ive been to shy to for ages.
So heres what i generally eat in a day;

School
Breakfast - Special k or crunchy nut
Break 1 - Banana, yoghurt drink, 2 weight watchers cookies
Break 2- Cereal bar - or i steal some of my boyfriends choccie
Lunch - cup of soup/chicken wrap/tomato and basil pasta
Dinner - Pasta/Chicken breast and chips/Rice with veggie tart/Chicken curry

Drinks - Water, Herbal Tea, Sometimes fanta lemon (1 or 2 times a week), milk (semi-skimmed) and lots of fruit juice.

Today - I feel really full and bloated when its not much.
Breakfast - Crunchy nut cereal
Lunch - pain au choc and hot choccie
Dinner - Macarel with tomatoes and taglitelli
Snacks - Caramel biscuit and 2 weight watchers cookies

Exercise:
I walk at least 30 mins each morning and 30 mins after school.
Sometimes go to gym when i have money
Exercise video 3 times a week when i have a health kick - which usually lasts a week! ^-^

I generally eat healthilly, apart from when i steal some of my boyfriends choccie, so i need to know what to eat as i find it really hard to lose weight and how much exercise i should do, as with what im eating and doign now im only maintaining my weight and walking is doing nothing for me, ive always walked - i cant drive and i live in the middle of nowhere with no buses :frown:

Any help would be great as id really like to be a little healthier and less jiggly! Thanks guys!

High Intensity Interval Training ("HIIT")

Work at near maximum intensity for 30 seconds, rest for a couple of minutes, repeat until absolutely exhausted. This raises the metabolism for hours after exercise, and on that diet you will inevitably lose a few pounds.

to above poster - that sounds like too much like hard work! i think she was looking for more of a food based approach...

i'm no expert, i want to lose a few pounds too and i cant shift them. my BMI is 20 though but i have a lot of fat round my waist which needs to disappear!

i'd say cut down on the snacking, if you really need to snack then snack on fruit. weight watchers cookies, caramel biscuits pain au chocolat etc... all could quite easily be replaced with a fruit/carrot sticks/celery type snack.

pretty much all of your diet should be worked on. special k and crunchy nut are not good for breakfast, there are plenty of healthy alternatives. chips, chocolate, cookies, caramel biscuits and cereal bars are all junk food and should be cut out if you really want things to work. you should also look at what you're drinking, have water instead.

One thing, don't rely on BMI, it is one of the most inaccurate measure ever invented by medical science, especially the home/DIY ones.

I lost alot of weight (3st) in 4 months, but this was because i did not eat very much which was stupid, coupled with the nervous energy of coming to uni...I would not recommend this diet!

Sometimes your body is just designed to be a certain weight, and no matter what you do it will stay at that weight, i mean you are not fat, far from it...tbh i don't understand why you want to lose weight!

that's complete crap. you can always change, and she explained why she wants to lose weight.

No it really isn't.

Some people cannot lose weight they are naturally big from a medical condition (not saying that the OP is, just an example) and it is they cannot physically lose weight. Other people are naturally skinny and cannot put on/lose anymore weight.

Sometimes your body does not want to lose weight, i think its to do with your metabolism so it is really hard to do so.

believe me, its complete twaddle.

the body may not want to lose weight, but it certainly doesn't stop it from happening. that's impossible.

Thanks guys! I do see what you mean, as like i said on the post i does sound good, but saying that it all really depends on your body shape, i just happen to put weight on my legs and bust, which i find it really hard to get weight off from. That and the title of the post prob isnt the best thing, it may annoy alot of people :frown:! It would annoy me if i wasnt the one who wrote it!
Cool, what do you think are th ebest alternatives for lunch and breakfast - as i do admit cereals are really sugary and leave me feeling hungry mid morning now!

It is true, well sort of, when your body is at a certain weight its more difficult to lose weight, i was told by my doctor id have a really difficult time as im clinically healthy, generally when first start to lose weight it goes quickly and you can have big losses but then when it gets to a certain point its more difficult, so you need to be pretty restricive and exercise more.
Heya, yeah I know that one well..any excess goes straight to my hips/ thighs (especially the tops) then boobs on me too...it's a bit annoying but I think I prefer it to an apple shape cos it looks really feminine, plus my tummy's always nice and flat and my arms are slim..

But anyway, breakfasts!

1 Fruit salad (pick a good few varities)
2 Porridge, chopped banana, 2 tsps honey
3 Boiled egg and wholemeal soldiers, low fat spread
4 Wholemeal toast with small amount of peanut butter/ honey or marmite, small glass of juice
5 A decent cereal (i.e Muesli, sultana bran) with skimmed milk and maybe a sliced apple on top so you get some different textures

That's the sort of thing I eat anyways, hope that's helpful.

AND, yes it does get more difficult to lose weight..I used to be underweight technically but I thought I was still to fat, so I was having to exercise for a good couple or hours or more everyday (I had a very active part time job which helped) and cut my calorie intake and then it dropped off. Now I can see how stupid/ delusional i was!! Not advisable

youre on the right track. you know u have to exercise and u do so thats great. u eat regularly (including breakfast :yy: ).

this is what i eat in the morning. oats (i eat ones called quaker but any flaked ones are good) i put 2 or 3 table spoons of kokoa powder (i know thats a lot but i like the taste) for taste and cold milk. it doesnt become oat meal but stays crunchy plus the cold milk is refreshing in the morning. drink a glass of water after.

during breaks i eat apple (in pieces as i cant be bothered to bite apples) and a cheese tostie with brown bread. i also make a salad in the morning. i chop up some lettuce put it in a plastic container with soem dressing and thats it. i cant be bothered to make a better salad but the sauce tasted great (thousand island). my friends make fun of me eating salad (especially the guys) but hey it makes me unique.

dunno if i understood it wrong but dont eat two hot meals a day. eat a hot lunch (like chicken or pasta) after school and make urself a sandwhich for dinner. with all that excercise and cutting out the basic sweat stuff u should be fine...it doesnt sound like to me ur fat....everyoned flabby! girls are naturally more flabby than guys so dont worry.

sorry for the long responce

i am currently on this diet.. hope it helps!

breakfast : fruit and a lot of water

lunch - rice/pasta/meat/fish

snack - banana

snack 2 - depending

dinner - a salad, maybe bread or a little bit of rice

i drink only water, and red wine from time to time - as it is good for the heart
PLUS loads of home-made fresh juices.

there are many misconceptions in ur diet. cereal bars are very crappy for ur diet, also cereals in general. now if u eat fresh cereal then that's healthy.
eat no more than 3 eggs a week. i eat one every two days
milk and yoghurt isnt healthy.
also ur lunch should be much bigger than ur dinner!

Eat more fruit and veg and cut out the junk. Cereal bars are suprisingly bad for you. Porridge or raisins or fruit would be much better.

Yoghurts are good, low fat pro biotic ones will help make your digestive system healthy.

With regard to exercise you need to do enough cardio - exercise vids, speed walking etc - to get rid of any fat around the jiggle, so that when you do toning exercises - sit ups, crunches - you can see the actual result.
I'd try eating small meals throughout the day, so you're eating huge meals in the evening and you don't end up snacking. And, of course, exercise, which we all love! Sounds like you've got thr right attitude anyway so I'm sure you'll be fine!

Definitely try porridge for breakfast - sounds a bit ming, but seriously, I used to be addicted to sweet sugary cereals in the mornings, I couldn't function unless I'd had a couple of big bowls of crunchy nut clusters, or chocolate flakes stuff. So I'd eat and eat until I was so bloated, but by the time I got to college an hour later, was starving again. It's just a sugar high.
Since I've started eating porridge (I put honey in it for taste, or you can mix raisins in with it) I get something sweet and filling in the morning, but it's slow release energy and I don't feel hungry again until late morning, sometimes even lunchtime! Which is impressive for me as I have a massive appetite. Definitely try porridge in the mornings. The Sainsbury's porridge oats are good, but boycott the Tesco's organic ones as it's impossible to get the ratio of oats-milk right! Lol. Hope it helps. Also, in terms of toning up, try getting an exercise ball (only about £3.99 from Argos) to sit on and do some push ups, sit-ups, back stretches etc on. Cos there's less stability than on the ground your muscles have to work much harder, so you tone quicker, I think. It sounds like you don't really need to lose weight, just tone up some wobbly areas so stuff like that should really help you out. Good luck!
