I don't know much about international scholarships, but I guess it depends on the uni you want to apply to. My guess would be to check the universities websites to see what funding they have available. As far as I know it's pretty damn hard for international students to get fully funded Masters positions, unless you're a Rhodes scholar or something, because you aren't eligible for government based funding, so your only hope would be to either find funding in your home country to study abroad or to apply for university specific scholarships for international (although I think competition is pretty hard, but it's worth a shot). Everyone I know here who's international and doing a Masters is self-funded.

Edit: I guess you could get a job but it depends on whether or not you're allowed to work on a student visa or you need to get a separate visa (and how difficult that is to get). Also, I doubt you would be able to work full time unless you're on a part time Masters, as grad work is quite demanding.
My advice, being "international" and having got a full scholarship to the UK is to start researching as many funds as possible really EARLY. Your best bet for full funding is to look at scholarship agencies/trusts and funds from Egypt to study overseas. Your current university funding office should have a list. APPLY TO EVERYTHING THAT YOU ARE ELIGIBLE FOR.
Then look at University websites - but really only your top five or so. You can get a university scholarship but it probably won't be a full scholarship. So you might need a bank loan to cover the rest.

btw. Is it realistic that you can get a full-funded scholarship? You need to be very determined, very organised and have top grades as well as publications etc . I'm not doubting that you are these things, but competition is tougher than you might think and being rejected is something you have to get used to.

Give us more info about yourself and we might be able to help you more with direction. Like: What's your field, your grades, your publication record. What University would you kill to have a place at. Why? etc. etc.
Edited.
I suppose yours was helpful too eh?

TO ALL , many thanks for your replies, and for the member "passthesaltplease" many thanks and about myself, i'm a graduate from faculty of Education - Education Technology department in the year 2004, with the first class position (excellent grade), and i wish i could be able to apply for any UK university like: Liverpool, Oxford, Cambridge, Durham .... i mean any university has a world wide reputation and known everwhere as a respectfull and distinguished educational inistitution.
and about this Rhodes Scholarships i've never heard of it before, and all that i'm doing is keeping my eyes on the british council egyptian site to follow up with it for any propret scholarship for me and the problem is that i can't find anyone fits with me up till now.
the second thing that i'm doing is looking in the universities websites for any scholarships but unfortunately i coudn't find any.
Anyways Many thanks once again,
Amira

P.s : sorry for my bad english
dude, its not personal.

I don't know if what I said is going to help her because she hasn't responded yet - it comes from my experience in being in a similar position and accomplishing what she is setting out to do.

She also needs to give more info for either one of us to give any meaningful assistance.

try this website for Oxford scholarship information:

British Council is a good start - try for a Commonwealth scholarship if they have them.
Rhodes and Fulbright won't apply to you because Rhodes doesn't have a scholarship from Egypt and Fulbright will take you to the States (and I'm not sure there is a Egyptian programme)

Abby ,
thanks but about the Commonwealth scholarships it won't work with me cause i'm from egypt and it's not listed as a commonwealth country... i feel that there's no hope but i will keep on trying
Oh, I thought you guys were in the Commonwealth.
You know there is a scholarship scheme administered by the American Association of University Women (www.aauw.com) that you could apply for. You have to become a member of an allied organisation of women graduates called IFUW and then you can apply. I haven't heard of anyone who has got it, but its definitely a possibility.

The non-EU/UK students on post-grad programmes I knew while I was doing my D.Phil were either self funded, British Council or ORS funded...

What postgraduate subject are you taking out?

Hi,
try Chevening scholarships
contact the British Council in Cairo
but you can not apply this year
because the dead line was back on Nov 21st
as passthesaltplease has said, you have to apply early.
Good luck
Hi Amira,

I find myself really Identifying with your situation. I start my MPhil/PhD course in Translation Studies at Warwick University in October, and there seem to be no scholarship I'm eligible to. The British Council in Israel, handling the Chevening scholarships, is actually not funding any humanities students (they only funded ONE Israeli humanities student during the last NINE YEARS, and that's all), so my application to them was rejected at once. I just cannot find any kind of scholarship I am eligible to to begin with.
Good luck with your studies. Some universities in the UK have special finance programs for students from arab states (I know Warwick has one - none for students from Israel, though), and some, like the UCL, have plenty of small scholarships. I hereby join your enquiry: if anyone heard of scholarships relevant for Israeli students doing a PhD in Translation Studies, I will be grateful to know.
