Which universities are the best for PPE?

I will be applying to Oxford, LSE and Manchester for a related course in PPE but I need to fill in my other two universities. I was just wondering what other unis are the best at teaching PPE or any related course such philosophy and economics etc.

Thank you in advance

UCL - Philosophy and Economics

Warwick - PPE

You're a massive n00b for missing out these two

Also:
York - (Don't know if they to PPE or Philosophy and Economics)
Durham - (Social Science mix - you can do Phil and Econ I think or other combinations - check it out)

York do PPE, I believe UCL and Warwick have Philosophy and Economics. Bath has Economics and Politics.

Durham offer PhilPol, PPE and Combined Honours in the Social Sciences (and Combined Honours in the Arts). Its School of Government is quite mediocore, unless the OP has an interest in Middle Eastern Politics, or any of the other speicialisms offered by the department, I suggest he looks elsewhere. Especially given the high typical offer (either A*AA or AAA).

York, quite famously, offer PPE. I think they were the second university in the country to offer it and recognised by many as being "the" place after Oxford. So please don't call other n00bs, we are all ignorant of certain things.

I believe the UCL course in ESPS is considered the fanciest after Oxford PPE.

The 'noob' comment was in jest but oh well I guess some people can't take a joke.

And York PPE recognised by many as being 'the' place after Oxford? Was not aware of this...and sceptical too

Well, it seems I'm not the only one (judging by the neg). It just came across as petulant and immature. It's probably best to use a smiley, as tone and humour is difficult to pick up

Search TSR and you'll find it's an assertion frequently made.

I'm not saying it is definitively the best (or second best) and these people are correct, I'm just saying it is arguably York's most famous course. It's probably a more cohesive course that at some universities and, in terms of quality, no worse than the other usual contenders (Durham, Warwick and Manchester). It's probably stronger than Durham and Manchester, if anything. But then I do have quite justified issues with Durham's School of Government (not its excellent philosophy and economics departments)

Durham York Warwick (The latter of which I thought was the place to go if not Oxford but Warwick = York = Durham I guess.)

Hey, I need a reply from the original starter of the thread, if possible (the person who sent the message quoted above). Do you mind telling me which course you're applying for at LSE? I'm applying for PPE at Warwick, Durham and Exeter for sure, I'm still deciding another university. I want to apply to LSE for Politics and Philosophy, but LSE has said that I could be disadvantaged if I apply for P&P as I mention economics.

Hey folks,
I was wondering if any of you knew what makes York the "second" best after Oxford?
Or indeed, the reasons why it is percieved to be the "second best" place after Oxford?

Thank you.

Why are Warwick or Durham better? Stop generalising and provide some evidence.

York is a mid tier uni tbh

It does not get anywhere near the prestige or academic rigour of LSE or Warwick

edit: suprise, surprise... you're at York
Not sure how this thread was bumped continuously for nearly 3 years... however, to people who also want to ask this question:

From 2015 Oxford, York, LSE, UCL, Warwick, Durham and many other universities offer Philosophy, Politics and Economics. These 6 have the best reputations. Oxford is the oldest and undoubtedly perceived to be the best, York was second to offer, and the rest rely on their existing reputation. The LSE and UCL courses were only introduced this year.

Do use course searches with unistats, etc. though as there are many other providers.

1. Oxford
2. LSE (due to name) / Warwick (reputation and experience of the course combined with breadth of options)
3. UCL (name)
4. Durham
5. King's / York
