    Hi Unifiles ,

Would enjoy a bit of advice on answering this. Thank you

Mary rented a flat from John. While John was away on his annual two-week holiday, Mary refurbished the entire flat. When John returned, he was delighted with the improvement.

He told Mary that as an expression of his gratitude, she would not have to pay her rent for the next two weeks. Mary spent the money on a party.

One week later, John arrives at the flat and tells Mary that he has changed his mind, he was too generous and he wants the rent money after all.

    Advise Mary.

it sounds like they didn't enter a legal contract or anything ie she has no proof that he's said it...he could deny it if he wants and no-one would ever know, so I don't think she can do much.

dont know tho obv as am not a lawyer
