Morning after pill

well i didn't have sex last night but came very close and the foreplay was pretty heavy and he wasnt wearing a condom. He thinks i need to take the morning after pill, do i?

thing is i cant get a doctors apointment until tomorrow, we have a sexual health clinic in town but im a bit nervous of going and don't know if i'll be able to get an apointment. Do Boots the chemist sell it over the counter anyone know how much it costs?

chemists sell it. £25 over here. well unless he penetrated you i would think you would need it, but mayb take it if it puts you mind at ease.

apparently if your under 18 they give it you free at Boots, i dont know how true this is, heard it off a friend
You would want to be certain that you want to take it though...its not exactly a great experience. When was your period?
why aint it a good experience?

urr i never really keep track of it but i think just over 2 weeks ago. does it have a brand name or do you just ask for the emergency contraceptive pill? heard it makes some people feel a little sick but nothing major

You can go to the chemist and ask for Levonelle, if the idea of saying "morning after pill" in front of a load of people doesn't appeal. Even though you probably don't need it sicne there was no penetration, if it'll put your mind at rest you might as well take it. There's a sticky at the top of the main Health&Relationships page that tells you about side effects etc.
Usually £25 for one of those pills, big reminder there to be careful in future.
bag it and keep everyone happy!

Though it's fairly unlikely you need it, unless he actually ejaculated anywhere near your vagina. If you're worried, then go get it though.

i think Levonelle is one, about £10-20 from most chemists off the shelf.

i have heard it can make you very very sick eg crampy, vomity etc and is a nasty experience.

also if the semen got on his hand/urs then he touched you, or otherwise may have gone into that area then you can still be pregnant by this. and although the morning after pill will stop pregancy, it will not stop STDs so maybe you need a GUM clinic appoitnment too

I'm going to my doctors tomorrow morning i think it's very unlikely but just in case.

I had to take it a few months ago (got it free on prescription from my GP) and it made me feel awful- I felt sick for days, like I was going to throw up at any moment. Better than falling pregnant though I suppose!!

i had to take it a few months back.. we went, thought it was free aaaand it wasn't.. £25 - my boyfriend ended up paying because i had no money at all, and neither did he :P
i didn't have any side effects though, but i didn't really to the pill either..
also, i was in the same kind of predicament as you are.. i only took it for precautions but it put my mind at rest. don't be embarrassed about going to the chemists though.. they will take you into a little room and just tell you a bit about the pill, aaand that you shouldn't take it too often because the stuff in it isn't that good for you.. that's about it really.. good luck.

but it is free at the doctors? though i have sort of the beginings of period pains coming on in the past few hours...

It is free from the doctor, although you'll get a prescription you need to take to a chemist. It's also free from family planning clinics.

Anything
well i didn't have sex last night but came very close and the foreplay was pretty heavy and he wasnt wearing a condom.

Just how close are we talking?
It's also free from the chemists if the pharmacist present has done the relevant training. All of the pharmacists that I work with give it out free under a patient group direction.
basically, if any of his fluids went near you then there's the teensiest little chance, and to put your mind at ease, you may as well get it. The MAP's side effects are different for everyone.

I've had to take it around 5 times (no judgement people: issues with condoms splitting)...
I've paid for it at a chemists (£25)
I've gone to A+E (Free, but you wait around a lot.)
I've gone to a sexual health clinic (free, but you wait around a lot)
I've gotten my friend who was a pharmacist to get some for me (free, natch)
and gotten it from Boots (said I was 19... at participating boots' you can get it free if you're under 19).

Once I felt like I had period pains, but it's really not a big deal. I mean, it shouldn't be used as an 'it's ok I can take the MAP' escape route, but it's there. As a girl, the best thing to do to protect yourself, is to go on the pill, regardless of if you've a boyfriend or not: you never know when you'll 'get involved', and insist on using condoms before you both get tested for STIs and get the all clear.

Because it's not just pregnancy you should protect yourself from

pregnancy is the least of troubles when it come sto STD's!!
