Well a person who arleady did their a levels and has the grades could have got unconditional. St.Andrews has become very cery competitive after Prince William went there ... haha ! ummm apparently there was a 10% increase in applications for people wanting to go St.Adnrews! Its one of the ELITE uni's i reckon!

Or any Scottish student, actually. Scottish students applying this year will already have their Highers so their offer is far more likely to be unconditional, as was mine last year.
All the kids at my school (Canada) who have received acceptances for IR (around 4) all received conditions. I'm not entirely sure what those conditions are, though. Keep in mind, my school is entirely IB.

Hi  I've just received an unconditional offer for IR at St. Andrews. I'm definetely going, nice to meet you classmate
I just got an unconditional for IR; it made my day much better. I don't mean to spam, but I got the same from LSE and SOAS (development economics). Which has the highest quality program?

LSE is LSE, it's very prestigious I mean. Comparable to Ivy League colleges I guess...
LSE's IR department is world renowned. In fact, I think LSE was the first college/university in the world to introduce the program. Mind you, sheer size of LSE makes it the polar opposite of St. Andrews. If you like a smalltown, go to St. Andrews. If you like an enormous f$%!#ing city, go to to LSE.

And I've heard that SOAS is a top-notch school as well, but what a strangely specific name for a college!

IR at SOAS is mainly concerned with Asian and African issues according to their website. The choice between SOAS and LSE is also about the scope of the program I guess...

I got unconditional offers from St. Andrews for both IR and joint honours History and French. Everyone else from my school (Canada also) seemed to get conditional offers, so I'm not sure why I didn't, but I'm not complaining! I did several APs last year and the year before and got 5s, so that might be it. Anyways I'm accepting the offer for French and History, not IR.

I live in Toronto.. I go to an all girls private school. I should be there right now, but I'm skipping my Latin class. That's the beauty of an unconditional offer, I suppose.
I live in Toronto, and go to and all boys school (Upper Canada College, near Avenue and St. Clair) The majority of my friends from outside school are from all girls schools... which one dyou go to?

Aaahhh no way! I go to BSS. Small world.
Wow.

That's ridiculous! I thought it was coincidental that you were from Toronto, but going to my sister's school just a block away is just crazy haha (my sister's Liz Birks, she's in grade 9 in Mac house). What's your last name? It's either MacMillan or Seaborn, because Tobias isn't applying to St. A's as far as I know... So which one are you?

I'm going to your prom with Tanya Kololian on the 21st, so maybe I'll meet you there

MacMillan (I am going to St. Andrews after all...).

My new mission is to find your sister. This is tooo much of a coincidence. I will see you at prom for sure.. I'm most likely having the afterparty, and the before is at Tanya's.
I figured MacMillan would be a safer guess... Nice and Scottish! That's awesome, we'll have to do our share of chilling in St. Andrews, eh? I'm adding you on facebook after this post.

*stoked for your afterparty*

This post is very old. I hope someone can help me.

I am from Hong Kong and I have received a conditional offer for IR. I wish to do a phd in IR in the US after graduation, so may I know whether St. Andrews is famous in the US?

Also, is St. Andrews repected in UK? I hold British Citizenship so I may work in UK in the future.

Thank you.
