I think I know what you mean... you just have to stay in the same position until it goes away right? Apparently it's something to do with when you're sitting/standing in a weird position, and the best way to get rid of it is to take deep (painful) breaths. I think it's quite common. Sorry I can't be any more technical, clever medical people feel free to correct me!

Does anyone get random stabbing pains in their heart?

Yes... sometimes :frown:

Yeah, I get that sometimes too. According to an article though, it doesn't have anything to do with the heart.

Many chest pains or discomfort have nothing to do with the heart. Short, sharp stabbing pains are often muscular pains. Some people get a dull, persistent ache under the left breast when they are tense or anxious. This has nothing to do with the heart. Indigestion can also cause pain in the centre of the chest, but this is usually related to food rather than exercise. However, if you have a chest pain that you cannot easily explain, it is important to talk to your doctor about it.
Yeh I used to when I was younger get them every other day which I thought was really bad, they lasted for around 5-10 minutes, now I'm older it only happens once a week or so.

Intercostal pain. I've had it so bad I've just had to take all my clothes off and sit really awkwardly to try and get some relief.

Nowt much you can do about it though.

Yeah, whenever I feel those pains, I have to stay in the same position or else the pain would increase. Deep breaths should help.

I used to get them a lot when I was younger, I thought it was just heartburn or from sitting in an awkward position, or even growing pains. The muscular explanation I can believe though
yeh...it happens to me too sometimes. it was so scary the first time it happended, i thought i was having a heart attack or something.

i can assure you 100% it is coming from your ribs/rib joints and not your heart.

No, and if it did happen to me, I'd go to the doctor, quickly, infact I'd probably call 999.

Don't wanna scare anyone though :p:
This ALWAYS makes the pain stop, no matter how sharp it is.

Hold your breath-(you dont have to breath in first, just hold it.)

Swivel your upper body from side to side The head and hips remain faced forward. Just the arms rotating around. Do this for about 20 seconds, and when you release your breath, the pain chould have gone.

Hope it helps!
I get them. When it first started to happen I was really concerned, as you would expect. I went to my GP and she informed me that it was a sort of muscle spasm, so I was very relieved. The pain is terrible though and I also am unable to breathe/move/anything for a number ranging seconds.
I get them on occasion, but then I regenerate in my coffin back at the crypt, ready for another night out...

I get them sometimes too.. i'll be walking along with friends then get a sharp stabbing pain in the left of my chest (always in the same area), i'll usually stop, clutch my chest and go 'AHHHHHHHHHRRRRRRRYMGOD' whilst they give me funny looks, then the pain goes and i'm ok again.

I used to get stabbing pains a lot when I was younger, usually at night, and because it hurt to breathe in AND to breathe out, I'd just hold my breath and make myself feel even worse. I was an idiot.

I rarely get them now. I have had a headache for 2 months and 8 days though. Argh.
