uni and getting over someone

So I've had a horrible love experience in my last two years of college (I'm in my last year now)... basically my first love who broke my heart. We've had a complicated on/off flirty, serious, angry, happy ... you name it... relationship since we broke up late last spring... but its never been easy. Anyhow... we're going to uni next year (almost certainly different ones)... and I guess... will I be able to get over him at uni? I haven't been able to thus far since we broke up, and I'm scared I won't be able to at uni and it'll still continue to hurt me. Does uni make it easy to move on, even if you're heart's been broken and you're not over someone at all?

I think it's different for different people. I don't think we can say yes or no... it depends on a lot of different factors.
I think so. When you get to Uni, you are very preoccupied with moving in, and exploring, and making tonnes of new friends. I suppose it depends on where you go. I found that it was the best thing for me, and helped me lots in moving on. Also, I think its the best way to make new friends, as you can go out without having to sit in waiting for a phone call, or holding back on talking to boys and stuff, which is what I personally tend to do when I am attached. Sad I know!

yeah im in the sameish situation as you and im finding it hard to move on. i find it easier if i dont see him for a few days but unfortunately we go to the same college so it all comes back when i see him. in my opinion you hsould find it alt easier to get over him at uni - out of sight, out of mind as they say. just think of all the new people youll be meeting, etc etc. just resist the temptation to get into contact or reply to any contact you receive from him.

I'm going to uni soon as you are, but I hear that the intial weeks are always somewhat tough; new environment, new people etc etc it ios bound to happen. But after this intial period of looking back one would assume you can settle down, meet some new friends and probably feel like everything is moving forward.

well think how many new people you are going to meet at uni.. i'm sure you can find one eligable bachelor out of the many hundreds of young (and most probably very, very sexy) men running around..

good luck to you anyway

Possibly not.

But the best cure for that is to find someone better.

I had the same sort of thing with a guy at home, and i found uni really helped. i also had the same sort of thing with a guy where i used to live, then we moved away, and i got over him in no time. you might find you miss him more at first, as youre away from home, but when get into uni, and meet new people, and start doing lots of different things, it will hopefully take your mind of it.

The first few weeks are absoulutely great compared to exam time  Although I have left uni, at the end of the first semester. Hopefully I will get into somewhere else and on the course I think I can do. The only stressful day to begin with is that day you are moving. However after that providing the course is fine, you will have a great time, try not to worry about it. Freshers weeks is amazing, you can go out every night.
