Do i need the morning after pill?

Help!

I missed the pill on Monday i think, and took it the next day (tuesday), i took it normally yesterday, but had sex last night. Will i need to take the morning after pill because i've missed one this week and contraception will be low?

I read the packet after having sex last night because i remembered i had forgotten to take one, and it said you should use extra protection if you forget one, but i didn't.

I have been on the pill about a month now, i have missed a couple before, but not really had sex for a while after. I'm a bit shaken up and worried!

Yes you do, missing just 1 pill can get you pregnant, thats why a bit rubber always comes in handy.
yes you can get pregnant for 7 days after missing a pill. get the morning after pill asap, the sooner you take it the more effective it is. If you wait more than 72 hours after unprotected sex the morning after pill is useless and you will just have to see if your period comes (which is sometimes pointless when you are on the pill anyway, bacause you can bleed even if you are pregnant).

Just go down to your chemist today and get one, at least it will put your mind at rest.

There's actually new guidelines for missed pills. As long as you're not on a low does pill or the POP, you can miss one pill in a pack and still be covered. If it';s in your last week you don't have the break and take the two packs back to back.

so long as you had taken at least a weeks worth of pills before monday (ie monday wasn't the first day of your new pack or anything) then you are 100% fine.

this stuff about 'miss one pill = could get preggers' is rubbish.

looks like your right getting pregnant is unlikely although theres also the possibility it can fail but just to be safe probably still best to take the morning after, http://www.wdxcyber.com/ncontr08.htm
OK, Im gonna explain the 7 day rule.
Sperm lasts, at the most, for 7 days.
The pill prevents you from becoming pregnant
So provided you take the pill for 7 days straight after sex, you SHOULD be covered.

BUT remember that 1 out of 100 women a year that take it without any deviation, can get pregnant, so BE MORE CAREFUL! I really wouldnt advise sex without a condom for at least 7 days after skipping. My advice is MAKE SURE YOU DONT MISS THE NEXT FEW PILLS!!!!!! If you feel like you're not sure, go ask your nurse for confirmation. I dont know what side effects the morning after might have on teh pill, so dont just go take it without checking!

Are you on the micro or combined pill?

But I thought is you had your period you lost the endometrium (womb lining) and therefore any egg implanted in it? Surely if you bleed for more than a day or so you couldn't be pregenant?

Yes, but some people continue to have preiods once pregnant, so not always an accurate symbol, but certainly is a mostly reliable one! And as you dont have an actual period in the true sense of the term on the pill, you only have a withdrawal bleed, the rules really dont apply.

Also, theres new research that says with the combined pill, you can miss two pills in a row and still be protected. Still unadvisable! I think that even if you miss one, use a condom to be safe! You should take more care over whether you miss pills, and if you do, then remember youve missed them!
