Trainee hairdresser ruined my hair!

Oh my god. I'm sure you've seen my many posts about my damaged hair. Well finally the layers that were really short were getting long again after almost a year. I went to a trainee hairdresser because I can't afford £30 for a haircut and she's cut all my layers off! Not only that, but she cut a really short but thick fringe in! Now I look like I have a ****ing mullet. The top half of the layers won't go back into a bobble and the bottom half of my hair feels really thin. The front looks really fluffy, I've tried to make it go back with some serum, now it just looks greasy. I came home and literally straight away got into the shower and started washing it, then just started crying after I dried it again.

Please help, what can I do? I'm really upset.

Complain to the place, and ask them to do something about it, it sounds like she's butchered your hair good and proper.

go back to or ring up the hairdressers where you had it done, and complain. they will probably offer one of their senior stylists to sort out your hair for you, because its not right to leave the hairdressers feeling crap. they offer a service and they wont to be associated with giving crap hair cuts. once my sister had her hair cut coloured during a busy period in toni and guy, it was rushed and looked rubbish, she was so upset about it. i rang up and complained for her and she was told to go back into the salon, where she had her hair complementary cut and coloured with the head stylist.

yeah i think you should go back and complain. but surely when she said she was going to cut a fringe you could of gone 'arghhhh no!' lol or did she make it sound like it was going to look really nice? good luck with complaining!

Problem is I don't think they can fix it. It's cut so short. I'm gonna have to wear hats for a month.

Just so everyone knows, it was done at Reeds. Don't go there!

What i can't understand is why nobody was watching her. When i was training we had someone watch over us to assess us. If you are this unhappy about it you should have complained straight away, or told her as soon as she started cutting it. You should deffinately go back, start crying or something and demand a new cut off of a professional hairdresser or demand some hair extensions!

why on earth didnt you just stop her is she was giving you a bad cut. Its happened to me before and i just called a halt. Did you clearly explain what you wanted or just give general guidelines?
aw poor you *hug*. Complain to the manager and demand they do something about it. For now, just remember that hair grows back and it wont be like that forever. And if they refuse : dropkick the manager and the trainee

Do as everyone else has said. Go back there or ring up and tell then and get them to do something about it. Sack the trainee hairdresser for a start!!!!

dont be rediculas listen to your self ... they are only a TRAINEE not qualified .. hense they have to learn somewere .. and arent going to be perfect.
If you wanted nice perfect hair you have to go to a professional .. you get what you pay for
im sure the trainee has learned from her mistakes and thats what matters thats all your being a practice dummy for them to practice on, so you cant complain.

Ah, further support fot my theory that all hairdressers want to turn Britain into a mullet-populated hellhole!

As others havr said, you should go back to the place and say you're not happy. It'd have more weight if you said something right away, but you can't change that now.

Yes but they should still be able to cut hair competently. And how can she learn from her mistakes if she doesn't know she's made one? As far as she's concerned right now Firebird left perfectly happy with her haircut, because she's done nothing to suggest otherwise.
If they've cut it far shorter than you asked for, you can get complementary hair extensions. I know that's true for Toni & Guy where I live, anyway.
Don't leave it too long before you complain though.

I don't think being a trainee excuses her. The cut she did sounds much different to what was asked for; how hard is it to just do what is asked? And if the trainee had to practice a specific style, why was Firebird not told?

Hopefully the trainee has learnt a lesson, but I don't think for one second that its all that matters. The happiness of the customer matters too, they might have to pay less but they do still have to pay.

like someone said before,
why didn't you say something as you should have done whilst the person was hacking at your hair,

they wouldn;t let you leave in a state that happened to me once and the superviser finished it for the trainee at no extra cost!!!

if you are going to be cut by a trainee im afraid to say, expect the worse!!
everytime ive had mine done its by a trainee, i like them doing my hair, they are learning whilst im saving money!!!

great deal really

Don't worry! Just ring them up asap and get an appointment booked. Even though you don't think it can be fixed doesn't mean that it can't. There are some really funky shorter hair cuts around at the moment.
Have to say, every trainee cut I've had has been excellent, just took longer than usual.

I think you were just unlucky. Also, it sounds like she wasn't properly supervised. I'd complain, and ask why someone wasn't there to rescue it!

Hmm. I don't want to go back there, it was £5 which basically pays for a couple days food but I just want to forget it. I don't trust them with my hair. I think I'll get my mum to do it for me!! A lot of the top layers were cut quite short, so there's a lot of weight on top, is there anything I could do to get rid of that?

I just want to warn everyone against trainee hairdressers. I didn't speak up because I couldn't see what she was doing!

The main problem is the fringe. It's far too short and that can't be put right. I already have clip in extensions but I think they'll be visible when I put them in now. How long does it take a fringe to grow from half way down the forehead to the eyebrows?

That's really unfair lol! I am a trainee hairdresser and i wouldn't have cut it Sh**e. Don't tar us all with the same brush. How could you not see, there should have been a mirror infront of you? If your not going to do anything about it, don't complain. You could quite easily get a proffesional there to sort it out.

i kno exactly how you feel, a trainee hairdresser messed up my hair so i complained and the proper hairdresser fixed it....

dont worry.... it'l grow back *hug*
I do believe that if you paid for it that they are then legally obliged to fix it if it goes wrong, or pay you to go somewhere else to have it done.

Also cant you get extensions or is it that bad?

You should go back, even if you just say "I don't like this" and don't let them do anything further. That way, the trainee knows they've made a mistake and they can be trained further.
