Friend's dilemma

Hello! Basically, one of my mates really likes a girl, he's been chatting her up for a while now, they flirt with each other and get on well. He asked me what to do next, so I told him that he wouldn't get anywhere without telling her how he felt! I'm sure you all would agree. Anyway, he told me he didn't have the nerve to do it, so I encouraged him, telling him that its not as bad as it appears once you get it out of the way.

However, he did it when he was blind drunk (I think she was pretty drunk too though!) and she said all the usual bs -'Ah, that's so sweet!' But he cannot remember what she said next, which would be the crucial part! She could have said 'Ah that's so sweet, but I want to remain friends' OR 'Ah that's so sweet, I really like you too'.

Anyway, has anyone got any suggestions on what he should do next? Because it would seem kind of lame for him to tell her again, and he doesn't know whether she was drunk enough not to remember it the next day.

Any solutions?

Cheers
Hum, tricky one this!

I'd try it again to be fair. Record it or somthing!

Or try txt'ing, say "Did you really mean what you said when I told you I liked you?"

That way he might get a hint as to what she actually said.

how about you, as his friend, talk to the girl, when your friend's not around. and drop into the conversation, that he really likes her and see what she has to say

Yeah but he would be so pissed off if I went behind his back! Plus, what if I find out she likes someone else? Screw that! He would disown me! The texting idea sounds good. Although an ambiguous text back would be quite annoying!
