I'm worried

OK, I'm gonna be 14 soon in June and I'm only just 5 foot :frown:

Loads of my mates are taller than me and this really gets me down :frown:

I look like a y7 :frown:

My dads 6 foot 1 and my mums 5 foot 4 ....

What can I do to grow basically? :redface:

Erm... can't help you really; I don't think there is a magical solution to be honest! I'm 5 foot and 17 years old (18 this June) so I understand your woes.

Do you have much body hair? Do you have many youthful features? You may be like me, and a late starter to puberty. I didn't start puberty noticeably until I was nearly 16 and I wasn't even 5" at 14 years old but now I am 5"7, which is still pretty short for my age, but the result of a huge growth spurt for me nonetheless. If you want to grow more quickly, it is possible to eat more proteins, but your body has a natural maximum height, and their are no natural means to exceed it.

I stayed really short until about 16, and i'm now 6'2" at 18. It'll happen, don't worry.

My friend was short until yr 10 when she suddenly shot up. Your parents seem tall-average size so I wouldn't worrry about it. The smaller you are when you are young the taller you grow when you get older.

LGD, i wouldn't worry about it. One of my mates was 5foot when he was 14 but after a year or two, he shot right up :eek:

and now he picks on me :p:

Overall, don't worry about it :hugs:

in time, your'll grow more, its even known for boys to grow taller before the girls.

My dad was in age 11 clothes when he left school! And the year after he left school he shot up from like 5ft to 6ft! Apparently when he started learnin to drive, the police pulled him over so many times because he was so little and looked so young. And by the time he hit like 18 or whatever he was taller than all his mates!

I was very short untill I hit about 16, and through 6th form I kept growing and am now roughly 5'10. I wouldn't be too worried, it used to get me down a lot but now its not a problem, give it time.

You will grow!! Many lads are small at 14 in fact at that age girls are usually taller as they mature quicker.

did you do a lot of gym sport etc when you were younger? it does stunt your growth. but yes i'm only 5 foot and 19 so you might just have to accept it im afraid

He is only 14! Your saying hes not going to grow anymore? Many guys are small at that age they have hardly hit puberty lol he'l grow.

Don't get too down about it, some people just shoot up earlier than others. There is no way you've stopped growing as you're still only 14.

Ask your dad when he started growing. My dad was a "late bloomer" and so were me and my brother (15/16). My dad is only 5ft 7 but my bro is now 6ft and I am nearly 5ft 10 (18 next week) I have grown around 6 inches in 2 years with more still to come hoepfully. Your dad is very tall so that bodes well for your final height you just might have to wait a little longer to get there.

When I was 15 I used to get asked if I was 12, and I still look younger than my age but I am taller now so its less of an issue. In the mean time before you grow you just have to get little tricks, like standing on the top side if you are on a sloped surface with your mates, or on the pavement if you are waiting for the bus. If you are really really worried you can go to the doctor and I think they can give you testosterone to help speed up growth.

Remember there are benefits - cheaper bus fares and you'll still look young when you're 50 and they are all over the hill!
