Hello!

I plan to apply for economics at st. cathrine's. I wonder how they do the interview. Do you have any expericences? Would be cool to hear what they want to know in the interview.

Thanks!

hi there... I know it's a long time since this post, but I'm at catz, and my flatmate is an economist. from what I know it's very competitive, usually applicant : offer ratio is about 4:1, but for my year it was about 10:1 for economics. And unsurprisingly 7 out of the 12 of them got a first in their part I exams.

I remember them being given a copy of FT to read before the interview, but don't really know anything else!

Don't let the competitiveness rumours put you off applying, if you are good enough but they don't have enough places they will pool you so you'll still have a chance somewhere else.

would it be wiser to chose queens'?

Hi, I'm currently doing economics at Catz so have been through the interview process there.

What's been said above is all very true, Catz had some very good first year results last year and the ratio of applicants to places is indeed about 10:1 .
Still, I agree with ---- about not choosing another college just because of that ratio - if Catz is where you think you'll be happiest, have some confidence in yourself and go for it! You certainly don't need to be any sort of genius to get in, and there's a real mixture of backgrounds amongst the economists.

Hope that helps, feel free to ask specific questions if you want (I'll do my best to answer them!)

Make sure you spell it St. Catharine's when applying .

so would it be better to apply at queens? I have contacted both colleges. The problem is that they almost never ever answer my questions ;(
