Quotes - Word Count

I know there is already a thread about word counts, but it doesn't answer my question. For the Edexcel Unit 5 coursework, on the source part, does anybody know if quotes from the sources count as part of the word count? I know that in English and French they don't count (so my teachers say), and wondered if they did for History.

In all the History coursework I've done (too much...) quotes have allways been counted as part of the wordcount.

Why not go to the exam board's website and have a look?
Quotes have always counted as part of the word count at my own school/college also.
they counted at my school
I suppose the only exception might be if they were used in footnotes... :confused:
