It's quite interesting how London Eye is now a London icon considering that it' SO new compared to say, Buckingham Palace.

(I do think the London Eye is cool though )

I know, I don't like it but whenever I've been, it's been really touristy! If I was to choose my top 5 tourist places it would be:

1. Tower of London
2. Buckingham Palace
3. Hyde Park
4. Natural History Museum/National Portrait Gallery
5. London Eye

I thought we were meant to be writing the most popular tourist places

My favourite things in London (no particular order)

Natural History Museum
British Museum
Hunterian Museum
London Zoo
And just generally wandering around places like Camden and Covent Garden, finding nice little shops and places to eat.

I've never been to see Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, etc...they just sound boring to me.

As of late 2011, the most popular paying attraction was the Tower of London, and the most popular free one was the British Museum.

Buckingham Palace and Big Ben etc, they are mainly for the foreign tourists. They love the history and culture of our landmarks. I wouldn't expect to see many people from the UK taking photos of Big Ben, unless they were from the countryside, for example.

And regarding London Zoo, I am not impressed with it. I have been to places like Singapore Zoo and Taipei Zoo, and it doesn't compare favourably to those. ZSL boast of a great number of animals at London Zoo, but really those animals are small ones; the big animals such as Rhino and Elephants have been moved to Whipsnade Wildlife Park anyway.

I haven't been for a couple of years but I liked it Probably wouldn't go again but for me it's still a better tourist attraction than stuff like Big Ben, London Eye, Tower of London, etc haha.

Hunterian Museum was probably the most interesting thing I've done on my visits to London, it was something a bit different and not very touristy at all - the only other people in there when we went were medical students!

Tower Bridge?
The Monument?
Wimbledon?

Don't agree with Madame Tussauds, M&M World (lol), Oxford/Regent Street etc. None of these 'attractions' are unique to London and the same things can be visited in numerous other locations throughout the world.
