I feel exactly the same way. St. Andrews is my first choice and I am desperate to hear. It's all I can think about. What subject have you applied for?

I absolutely adore classics, I love the way they used to speak, dress, their morals, I would actually prefer to live in the 19th century.. And I enjoy their works more than any others, Haha you do sound quite odd speaking slang, but it is rather cute
I would love to speak like you, I find myself picking it up when I read classics too, especially the work of Shakespeare who I admire hugely! Ofcourse he is the obvious choice, But as I've studied him more in dept, I've gained a deeper appreciate for his work, and interest in his style.
aw you're welcome

James Joyce is an author who's books I haven't yet had the pleasure of reading, which ones would you recommend? Oh, enjoy the poetry!
I study Psychology too, what other classes do you take?

That's the wonderful thing about classics, they are especially addictive. When you reread a classic, you do not see more in the book than you did before; you see more in you than there was before...it's as much of storhy as it is a self-discovery.
I can relate to your veneration towards the Victorian era, intellectualism and literature was admired and championed amongst all classes, let alone the gentlemanliness which is a rare quality amongst the male population in this day in age

Shakespeare's work is wonderfully elating! I studied 'Twelfth Night' and I found myself truly encapsulated by the vast philosophy, beauty and wonder it caricatured.

James Joyce's A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man is a beautiful assemblage, I think you will really like it!

A very popular book that I recently read is called The Stranger by Albert Camus, it's an easy read with a lot of philosophical caveats http://www.amazon.co.uk/Stranger-Albert-Camus/dp/0679720200/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1358099517&sr=1-1

I couldn't agree more, it was so sophisticated, well mannered, I like how people used to travel around in horses and carriages, visiting people 'calling on' them with letters.. ahh i love it! Ahh.. if anyone ever does invent a time machine.. I know where I'l be heading
I've read Jane eyre a few times, it's probably one of my Favorite novels, everytime you read it, there is another layer of meaning you uncover, there's so much one can learn from within a novel, and yes it is a journey of self discovery, for the reader.. you learn to appreciate the little things.

Shakespeare is a work of art, his work is simply timeless, I studied 'Hamlet', and found myself fascinated it.

Oh fantastic, I shall add them to my ever growing reading list, Thankyou

I received a conditional offer based on graduating with 36 IB points; I’m predicted around 40 points. However, I’m applying as an international student, so maybe they’re more lenient? What about you?

I applied for BSc Geography too, still not heard anything though!

Look St. Andrews is right next to the sea, that means you can go swimming!
No seriously, someone I know who is specialised on educational consultancy said it is an excellent institution, though not without a certain poshness.

So do you have an option to do further maths when you're doing highers? I'm not sure how it works over the border. What grades did you get? I got 3A's (maths, physics and economics) and a B (archaeology, dont ask) and picked up AS further maths this year. Hopefully we'll hear soon!

Nope we don't :frown: some of the FM course is in our Advanced Higher Maths course, but we only have the option of maths . Yeah its pretty weird up here! Well my AS Equiv. were AAAAC, got a C in english since they made me take it >.>. Doing advanced higher maths physics and chemistry, sort of equivalent to A2, but slightly harder, in my opinion:wink: Yes i hope so! do people start to hear decisions tomorrow? or not:tongue:?

From what I have read on this thread they will start assessing after tomorrow. Considering they have had some applications at least 3 months I'm sure they would have done some assessing already but wait until all applications are in before making decisions.
