..... cant decide (dont know the difference)

I have an offer from Newcastle for Business Economics and Finance and Cardiff for Economics and Finance? Dont know which one to choose? Which has a better reputation in terms of academic prestige and which uni do employers go after?

Secondly whats the difference between Business Economics and Finance and Economics and Finance? Are they both about the same?

Its such a hard decision ..............

Sorry mate I do not want to offend you but why are you applying for something without even knowing what it is. This is very irresponsible as when you start studying you may not like it and have to drop off the course.

Going purely by university reputation, you should pick Cardiff.

Right !!
Well I do know what the courses contain but wanted to know whether there is a big difference?
Knogle what if I go by ratings of the economics dept. Then will it be newcastle?
Yep i agree with Cardiff having the better business rep, as Newcastle hardly gets a mention.

Yea I'll try.
Got my A level resit results and got BC. Was 6 marks away from a B !! Have an offer from Cardiff for BB!
Do you think they'll give me a place? I mean I took a gap year to gain experience in banking etc.
I asked the admissions tutor and she told me to send in my results (still have not got the hardcopy) .....

So u guys I can get a place?

yea thats what i m going to do.
Its really stressing me out!!!! ... might get it remarked but then i m scared of the marks going down!!
What is the difference between business economics and economics and finance? Was really intterested in Business economics but not sure, as surely finance would be better for a bank placement.

I think Business Economics is just, well, the economics of business. It's essentially a more business orientated subject. Economics and Finance however, is a joint course, where you learn about 'pure'/'theoretical' Economics and learn about Finance - possibly with some applications; financial economics, econometrics etc.

For this reason, employers will respect the Economics and Finance degree more as Economics is more well respected to Business and yes, the Finance material does help.

Hope this helps,

Sen

So you think Economics as a single subject is more respected ?

It's more mathematical and versatile, and that translates to respect if you will.
