Hmm, my brother listens to his metal stuff on his 9000W dual speaker thingy at full volume everyday for an hour or more but nothings happened to his hearing so far.

Death metal is the way to go!! Tis the best music in the world!!

Oh, and yeah, it does affect your hearing on an MP3 player cos the music is going straight to your ears.
i listen to my ipod on full full volume and now I am noticably more deaf than I was a few months ago. Awful...

You only have one set of ears...but you also only have one life! Why not enjoy it whilst we can!!!
I listen to my Creative Zen at 16 or 17 out of 25 and I have no hearing problems
I don't think you would witness the damage until your much older when your hearing would get worse as time goes on but then you can argue that this would happen whether you listen to music or not- its part of old age.

I listen to quite a bit of music, on my portable player it's generally around 10-15 (7 in the library) out of 40, and about 1/3 volume on my home speakers. It's never damaged my hearing, in fact, I can hear better than most.

When i first got my ipod full volume was extremely loud and i loved it. Now i can barely hear it full volume. My ears were full of wax then i travlled by place to russia and my ears didnt pop, which didnt help as my ears were full of wax and there's now a load the other side of my drum.

9000w? yea ok m8 =/ do you know how loud that is?

my ears are pretty ****ed.
I guess the best way to listen to our hxc music is on speakers rather than headphones.
i have listened to my mp3 player for roughly 2hrs every day for the past 5 years and i have had no problems.
i just havnt had it on full blast though.
know your limits!

My mp3 player's always so much quieter than anyone else's. When I was young I'd have my tape player really loud, and I'd get annoyed with the ringing in my ears afterwards, so I started turning it down gradually. Now I'm used to listening to music at a low volume, and so when I turn it up a little it sounds loud to me, but quiet to everyone else. Hopefully I'll save my hearing this way. Hopefully.

When I'm listening to my music out loud, though... it has to be loud. :p:

I used to play my iPod on full volume with apples £25 set of headphones and when comparing them to the normal apple headphones, they are a lot louder. But i played it at full volume for about an hour each day till the iPod broke. Now i just listen to my pc through some headphones at full blast for about 3 hours each day which makes my ears ring afterwards. I also have a PSP and its so annoyingly quiet, but i blame the headphones and some new ones that are much better are coming tomorrow  as the apple ones broke
