Sheffield is amazing. The university side of town is totally crammed with students so its a great atmosphere. Obviously sheffield is nowhere near as big as london, its about same sorta size as the large towns/small cities near london (Reading, Oxford, etc).

Most definately. It's the great thing about Sheffield, compared to say Leeds where the University is a little further out.

About 10 minutes down West Street and you hit Fargate - although if you walk down Division Street you'll be walking past some good shops anyway en-route.

I live 10 miles from bath and go out there all the time, I also have a few friends at uni there, the union from my experience isn't as good, but then I'm biased.

but when it comes to the city, well bath basically has posh bars and crap bars, as a student you'd goto the crap pubs because you wouldn't be able to afford £3 a pint in the posh ones, the cheap places are only about £2.20 a pint, compaired to the fact that I hardly ever pay more than £2 a pint in sheffield, usually more like £1.80.

If you're rich bath would be a much better city to live in as it is really really nice, and old and picturesque etc. but as a student I'd pick sheffield anyday, it's just like a city of students on weeksday nights, it has a totally different (and better) atmosphere. Students are not the majority in bath, where as go out in sheffield and I usually see about 5 people I know, and I even don't know that many people.

Leeds, is equal to sheffield imo, I've had some great nights in leeds and some great nights in sheffield, I couldn't really call it there. Leeds feel alot more like a city. Sheffield feels more like a big town.

Obviously I can't really talk about the unions but as cities, that's my impression.
