Temporary semi paralysis

I was in history yesterday and started getting this fizzy tingly feeling I get sometimes, but this time my hands went purple and my entire left side went numb - couldn't move my left leg, side, or hands. It really freaked me out. I have anaemia again, possibly - blood test results back on Fri - and I'm not eating much, so it could be to do with that. Doctor thought it could be a panic attack but I've never heard of them being like that and have never had one before. Any ideas?
a friendo of mine had EXACTLY the same problem, it was due to a deformation in the CAROTID ARTERIA (that's the one going up the throught where you usually look for pulse). the thing is she had an attack and half her body got parallised just like yours. i dont know what you can do about it but it seems that u should avoid greasy food.

They told me this happened because blood didn't flow up to her head properly, maybe this is your problem, but the blood doesn't get there for another reason.

I don't think its the same thing but i hope this has helped you. the best thing will be to see a doctor. Good luck!
yeah sounds right, blood flow problem, but the doctor knows best!
If a headache had been involved I would say migraine, but since it wasn't I'd concur with the people above.
Sounds to me like a cyrinx.

A few questions:
1 - Do you have any known spinal problems?
2 - Have you ever had any brain trauma?
3 - Have you any neurological problems?

If yes to any of them (as far as I know) it is possibly a cyrinx, which is some fluid in the spinal column that can trap nerves and cause temporary paralysis.

I have a cyrinx, and get the same thing, minus the purpling. All I can suggest is talking to your doctor about the possibility of a cyrinx. You get used to it after a while though, its just a pain if you have a pint in your hand and your arm goes, or you're walking and your leg goes. The latter is funny as heck though!

Oh, and if it does start to happen every so often, be wary of friends with knives :p: I found that out a while ago!

Thanks for your replies, sounds quite scary though  I don't think it could have anything to do with greasy food, as I haven't eaten much for the last few weeks. Maybe it could be connected to anaemia, if it could be a blood flow thing? It's worrying though :frown:
