pain in forearm

Hi. I go to the gym 3 times a week. I do a mixture of cardio and weights in all sessions. Anyway, i've noticed that since i went last time to the gym, i am feeling a real pain in my left forearm particulary when i do bicep curls. When i do weight machines like tricep press, fly, chest press e.t.c it gives me no problems. Resting and not lifting weights it only occassionally aches. I was wondering if you think i could have a torn muscle, or strained a ligament in my arm e.t.c? If so, how long do you think i should lay off the weights? And which weights, as in all weightmachines of just bicep press machine? BTW i have had this pain for a week now and it only really hurts when i do certain weights.

Cheers for any help.

Note. i know my forearm isn't my bicep, but i definately aggrevated it on the bicep press machine. As after i had done a certain number of reps the pain set in so i stopped, and now whenver i have tried to do bicep curls, it now hurts really bad. Worse than to start with. i know i shouldn't try anymore now so i know i;m gonna have to lay off, i'm just wondering what exactly may be the probs. Sos if i sound stupid.

Do you eat protein? I've had this before and it was just the muscle tearing and re-building. Perhaps you should give it a rest for a few days and see how it goes. Eat more protein if you're not.

I think you may have overdone it slightly. Rest it for a bit, and maybe work on other parts of the body.

If it starts to swell follow RICE- rest it, ice it, compress it and elevate it. Contact your doctor if it isn't better in a few days.

Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks for the replies! i do eat alot of protein, yes. but if this was the case, that it's repairing, wouldn't my right arm ache aswell? Regarding rest. I will definately rest it, however do you think it's ok to do weight machines that don't concentrate on arms eg lat pull down, even chest press e.t.c? Do you reckon a week w/out doing any weights for my arm would probably be enough?

Cheers and thanks for your replies previously!

It depends, maybe not. Both arms may not be as strong as each other and you may have a tendency to work one arm harder than the other; i know i do this as i have a stronger side. If i was you i'd avoid anything that put stress on forearms including the lat pull down. Just rest it and don't do anything that would put any stress on it is my advice.
